If you can't communicate with someone, then you can't do business with them. If they can barely type readable English, then there will be a ton of miscommunication. This is bad for the client because they wasted time and/or money. It's bad for the seller because they will have a very high rate of bad reviews, even if they might be a great service provider.

Now, as for people who don't have English as their native language - I know a ton of people who can write legibly here, but just don't want too. But, like the example of the person I provided - they just don't want to.

If the seller has bad English skills, get someone to proofread at least the first post where they are listing their services.

I second that.. I hate do deal with people from the general area's of India and Filipinos or wherever the fuck they are from. Due to the fact of really poor communication skills. Its just not that the English is bad, they lie about it. When you then ask is everything clear, do you understand and the answer is yes and they do something else :angryfire:

Hang on hang on. Honestly, its nothing to do with being from India or phillipines or from china for that matter. The bottomline is these guys are idiots and they are selling crap.

just want to clarify, I am a indian myself but i dont sell any of those services.

Rather than targetting indians or filipinos, lets stick to the point that any DP dumbass selling his crap in BST with self promotion should be watched out for.

Dont be picky over his/her race or where he is from.

Okey let's rephrase,, people with poor language skills. Just that the major part of outsourcing world are from under developed countries they were just examples.

This is how a free market is meant to work. Everyone being on the lookout for each other and the community instead of relying on rules enforcement.

Starting this thread and making community quality a community effort may be the answer we needed.

As long as people keep it up.

Also, Erect, you're only a BST mod, right? What should we do with posts from the other sections?

As someone who does freelance writing I can see an elite marketplace being a draw, both for buyers and sellers. I don't post WTS threads simply because I have enough clients through recommendations, although when I was starting out I did reply to advertisements – but not here - and I may start doing that again if work ever dries ip. On the one occasion that I did post a WTT thread (on, cough, another forum) I got a number of responses of which only one was on point and offering about a third of what I was getting. It was bartering, which may have meant that the post got a worse response than more usual selling or buying posts.

This query was also slightly off topic, as I did say that I specialise in financial content when he was looking for internet marketing. That’s probably an issue with that forum, as everyone’s expected to be a generalist. Why you’d want someone who writes about investments to write about link building beats me, but that’s the way it is on, ahem, another forum.

If there were a forum where I did not have to manage the expectations of web masters who were more used to the "good luck bros" pricing structure, I would think about participating.

Now I may be bluffing from my cubicle in Bangalore, but I would be amazed if other writers are not thinking the same thing. One of the things that you find as a writer, if you're specialised and half decent (or have another job) is that quite quickly you move away from forums and instead rely on repeat work, recommendations and people finding you. This will always I happen, I expect, particularly as the need for decent content has exploded with the web. However Wicked Fire could capture a few of these writers and other service providers for a while before they get harder to reach.

I'd also make a couple of other points:

1. Tightening up would work, but it could perhaps be better ratcheted up rather than pushed in through one big bang as it could kill the forums stone dead. So move to 20 posts immediately, then 30 the next month, 40 the month after that. This could then mean that if the market does slow then the tightening up can slow as well.

2. A stickied post about how reviews should work and what sort of reviewer you should not waste your time with could help. Reviews are an excellent way to qualify the service providers, and are another way of differentiating Wicked Fire.

3. Perhaps we need reviews of the reviews. So if you get a bad service from someone with decent reviews then call out the reviewers. That may be self interested, as I also sell popcorn as well as financial content writing.

Definitely this.

I also like the 100 post minimum rule - even dp has a min. Post rule for their bst section, I think we can do better here.

I have since corrected my review of this service and reported that the topic be closed. I mistakenly posted a positive review thinking that the confirmation process should have been straight forward. From this point forward, I will not make such a mistake, nor will I grant an iTrader for services I did not exchange money or trades in exchange for services.

Ask Erect about the scammers that I have helped get removed and close topics. This nonsense needs to end on this great forum. It should be noted that I am not the only one that has made a mistake like this, there are a couple of members participating in this topic that are equally guilty. It's not the point, we need to work together to clean out the garbage.
