I have a dream of starting my own network

I have a dream of (someday...in the distant future) starting my own network....but from what I have seen 99% of networks die within 3-6 months of opening.

There seems to be several problems that people run into:

1. Lack of start up capital.
2. Becoming 'offer brokers', running through several networks resulting in really low offer payouts...instead of working directly with advertisers. Affiliates then drift towards higher paying networks
3. Advertising their networks in dubious forums that results in bunk traffic, then having payments withheld from advertisers because of dodgy leads.

What makes a successful Network tick?

Start small, at very minimum, having your own network will allow you to get higher direct payouts from advertisers. Specialize in what you do best, and get your friends to run traffic through you. Be helpful (not spammy) in this section on wickedfire, and eventually, if you're actually decent, people will start to notice.

I had that dream once also....but then it was crushed/obliterated/destroyed/gangbanged into the air. True story.

We have enough fucking networks IMO.

I know,
I am not trying to fill a void.

I do have a dream of helping people make money, as well as increasing my portfolio and enriching my life experience.

Do you own a network?

I also want to own my own product to sell through my CPA network...but finding out how to do that is impossible

I think the major problem with networks is that they have to put up with a lot of crap like:

1. Advertisers that don't pay
2. Fraud affiliates
3. Dishonest employees

So as a network owner you have to deal with 3 groups of people (advertisers, pubs, employees) and if you don't know what you are doing they all will screw you over massively.

If you can find a way to keep all the crap out, you should be able to make money.

No offense endpoint, but you sound like a noob. I don't mean that disrespectfully, but that you indeed sound inexperienced at CPA marketing.

If that's the case, don't bother trying to start a network or you are likely to find yourself in the same boat as those other networks that die within 3-6 months. Because while reputation is important (as stated earlier in this thread), the real killer is inexperience.

If you have no CPA experience, do yourself a favour and be an affiliate for a while. Learn the business.

If you insist on ignoring everyone's advice and starting yet another network, follow cakes advice. Use it to get yourself higher payouts and just let a few people you know run traffic through it. Then in a year or so once you get some experience with how to deal with advertisers and all the other shit launch your own product as an exclusive on your network and open it up invite only. Then after a year of that if you want to try and compete with the big boys you will have established a reputation and gained valuable experience which will make your odds of success much greater.

Thanks Steve,

I am a 'noob' at running a network.
I plan to invest 150k of money I have earned through other CPA networks (unfortunately not yours)

What did I say that made me sound like a noob? I tried to word my post differently from other posts I have seen on other forums...they seem to get shot down in the first post.

I could have come here and said "I wanna make a million bucks by owning a network...tell me how to do it"
But instead I went the more quizzical route trying to milk a bit more out of people before I get to posts like yours
