Subpoenaed by Attorney General

The suit against Pacific Webworks was by google for using the logo to mislead consumers. Also, they were the advertiser behind numerous biz opps and were responsible for millions of dollars in income from the product so it's slightly different.

Either way of course the AG is looking into the advertiser, they are the ones running the business. The ones you were promoting probably made millions of dollars too, it's not hard when you charging thousands of people daily at $80+ a pop.

Having never been subpoenaed before, if they wanted that information about you, wouldn't they have to subpoena you? If the investigation was about your blogs or sites, they have to get that information from you, wouldn't they? I dunno, something doesn't sit right with me about this.

Get yourself a lawyer, like, now.
Slightly unrelated, but this is why I stress people to -among other measures- NOT go with 'Whois Privacy' services. Firms who push subpoenas can silence the subpoena receiver [whois provider] in ways that the actual defendant only finds out about trouble after all pretiming is lost and it's time for his door to be knocked down. Instead, I recommend everyone to just use fictitious identities, generated through www.fakenamegenerator.com while tied to an e-mail address that the domain owner accesses directly. In this case the owner will be the person being subpoena'd directly.

note; Some whois providers operate with e-mail addresses that are automated 1:1 relays to the client's personal mailbox. That's fine. The huge issue lies with whois providers who store and delegate communication with their own jurisdiction.

Lawyer up. Don't submit shit and when you do have the lawyers look over it. There are a lot of laws about what data can be seen in different cases and the fact that you weren't given any paperwork directly means that the network could be trying to scapegoat their affiliates by saying it wasn't them it was these people. Get a good lawyer and gather up all your information.

Reactions: Lord B
foreign domain registers + foreign web hosts + foreign networks = foreign cars

Yea dawg.

How did you have things worded on your lander? (pm me if you don't want to post it)

"Advertisement"/"This site is not affiliated with any newspaper publication".

Asterisks on any mention of the word "free", "trial", or any price references, which points to the bottom of the page which has the terms and conditions listed by the advertiser.

Another thing you could do is find out if this case is also using an outside law firm to help prosecute. If they are, hire that firm on retainer immediately. They could potentially decide not to go after you based on conflict of interest. It has worked for some people in the past.

Just like Sopranos... Tony Soprano went to every good divorce attorney in the area so that bitch Carmella couldn't get a decent attorney.

Wait so the network was just contacted and not subpeeaned?

Not exactly sure. I haven't received anything yet in the mail so I wasn't personally subpeonaed, and I'm not even sure if the network was. They did say they have until March 1st to turn over the info so they could just be rolling over on the affiliates without too much pressure from the AG.

Listen to this guy

I was wondering if anyone else got this call and what exactly I should be expecting at this point or if anyone has been down this road before.

no offense but if you came to wickedfire before calling your lawyer (which you should already have, but if you don't, substitute 'calling your' for 'finding a great') you're already on the path to failure, so i wouldn't worry..

since i'm sure you already got your lawyer up to speed tho, moving on.. that sucks..

So was the notice of subpoena specifically about Google bizopps or any other offers?

Is this just Google / Pacific Webworks case or the AG is looking into anything and everything, including non-rebill offers?

+10!!

I had another member PM me saying that he received the same call from the same network. He believes that it was over the offer Everbright Smiles which is possible because I did run that as well. I just thought it was biz opps because I did bigger volume on those offers.

Everbright = CPX or Azoogle for whoever wants to know which Network.
Pick one ... i have a feeling i know which it is.

I've gotten a ton of PM's asking what network it is, and I don't really see any harm in making it public. It was actually Market Leverage.

Nobody's asked yet, so I will.. how many fake testimonials did you have on your lander? A shitload?

What I've gathered from this thread:

Stay the fuck away from promoting anything on market leverage, since they sell their affiliates out.
