Leaving America...

Seems like you will need to pack you bags and travel around Europe for a month before making up your mind.

I moved to Spain over a year ago. The weather is fantastic, cost of living is much lower than the other countries in Northern Europe, girls are "fun loving" and there is plenty to do.

You will have to learn some Spanish, I know enough to just get by, and you will have to get used to the siestas. Apart from that, its all good.

Another note. If you have a US Passport, you STILL have to pay US taxes.

But you can get $80k exemption if you spend at least 330 days out of the country (or just funnel all your money through your offshore business!) with form 2555-EZ

and what if you don't?

dude, spare yourself and don't go to switzerland. language is too difficult to learn and if they notice a slight foreign-ish sound in your language, you'r fucked.

spain or portugal. both have excellent relations with the US and im sure you could get some kind of deal. talk to the embassies. since you live in the US i take that you do at least already know a few words of spanish lmao.

Spain is in a downturn, second highest unemployment rate in the EU, and suffering pretty bad. Taxes are more than what you would pay in the US.

don't let the door hit you in the ass

It doesn't surprise me that the only thing you had to contribute to this thread was something about my ass...

Of course, I wouldn't expect any less from someone that has spent a few years starting a shitstorm on this forum because they couldn't quit whining about their political viewpoints.

Get over it. Sometimes, people do things for reasons that are non-political.

This x10. GTFO.

I LOL at all the Obama fucktards now crying about leaving the U.S. when his popularity keeps cratering.

1: Obama? I don't like Obama.
2: What the mother-Jesus-on-a-cross-fuck does Obama have to do with me, or anyone for that matter, wanting to leave the U.S.?

I love how they turn wanting to experience the world into some political/unpatriotic agenda, typical.

No wonder he wants to get out of such a god fearing, bigoted country. =)

This.

I think some of you have this wrong... This has NOTHING to do with taxes, cheaper living, Obama, political viewpoints, finances, business...

It has to do with:
The US is getting fucking boring.
I am sick of all of the arguing and bickering that entails life here.
I want to experience a new place, new people, new experiences.
The local/state Police are getting out of hand, laws are out of hand.

So quit making it about what you want it to be about... Unless, of course, you're one of those Americans that doesn't think anyone ever needs to experience the world, because 'America is better than everyone!'

Asif relocate and pay taxes, seems kind of silly and unnecessary, especially if you make monies online. Spain is awesome and would be an awesome place to live

What's a PT community?

You still got me with this DC and PT community???

hah, thuxen, you live a lifestyle and you're not even aware of its name :) at least it means you're a natural talent!

PT = Perpetual Traveler. All context including.

go Norway ! life there is amazing ;)
what's amazing is taxes are so high (72% TTB) they've effectively crossed a line through entrepreneurship and nearly half of your country's industries are govt-owned.

sounds like a solid plan for affiliate marketers! :moon:

but yeah, i suppose life could be worse in a nation where the government won't spoon-feed its citizens.

If you try the Spanish Costa's (especially Costa Del Sol) you will find that 99.9% of people speak English. Standard of living is high and cost of living is relatively low (compared to UK, Ireland, Swiss, Monaco etc.). But don't expect to get a job :) Amazing party lifestyle in the holidays too.

I agree with what some people are saying about traveling. You haven't been outside of north america so I would at least visit some of these places your talking about before you decide to make the jump. You might not even like it.

America has its problems just like any other places in the world. I would love to travel the world but i can't see myself living anywhere else for the rest of my life.

I'm in the same situation, though the other way around. I'm tired of europe/sweden, the damn depressing winters, the anti-social behavior with people you meet, the high taxes, the socialism, the high taxes, the shitcold weather, the super high taxes etc. About 25-30% of Swedens youth is unemployed.

I want to move to the united states, live with some real capitalism instead of the socialism we have. Though, it's practically impossible. Getting a work visa in United States is _very_ hard (especially with the 10% unemployment numbers), and a greencard is nearly impossible.

That's slight misrepresentation of the truth. Very few Spanish speak English here, so if you actually want to interact with Spaniards and integrate yourself into the society, you better learn Spanish. Otherwise you're limited to the British expat community.

Well you could always come to Canada, and tell the immigration guy you're claiming refugee status because people give you funny looks at home, and you feel that you're in danger. That'll probably work :disgust:

Not gonna help with the winters though.

I just want to say one thing about the "taxes" in the US. I think everybody here is talking about income or corp taxes, which is fine. My question for people from other countries is are you taxed everytime you turn around like in the US?

Excluding VAT, do you have to pay property tax, state communications tax, federal communications tax, use tax, gas tax, gift tax, estate tax, excise tax, rental car tax, bed (hotel) tax, etc?

Just curious.

Ireland sucks. Beef tastes like grass, so you can take steak out of your diet.

It also rains on a daily basis, several times. I went to Galway and Dublin and hated every second of it.

If you really don't want to pay taxes, get out of the country for 330 days of the year and make less than the 90 - 100k limit it is this year. All you have to pay is social security tax which is 15%.

If you're interested in Thailand, its a great country. People know basic English in the bigger cities, there is a great expat community, cost of living is very low, girls are gorgeous, and the food is unbeatable.

We have pretty much taxes on everything in Sweden. We used to have a wealth-tax. So if you basically had money on your bank, they would make you pay taxes for it. Oh and if the social democrats gets into the government this -- then they'll re-introduce it.

We also used to have an inheritance-tax. So if your parents died and had left something for you, then you had to pay taxes on it. That one is also gone right now, but you never know with the socialists.

I think Sweden got the highest taxes in the whole world. (about 90% If you're buying liquor and gasoline for your money.)

Yeah I've heard Canada is basically an americanized version of Sweden, right?

But get me a job and I'll be over there in May, hahaga.

I can't say this is my opinion, but I know someone that has lived in many countries including the ones you mentioned for the most part. If it is government and politics you are not liking in America, your not gonna like it pretty much anywhere according to him. -fyi
