Seeing as we have people from all over the world, I thought it would be interesting to have a culture thread. Share some interesting pieces history of what made you who you are today.
Looks like I'll have to start,
I'm Acadian and I talk Chiac("Chiac is a dialect of Acadian French heavily mixed and structured with English.") I sound exactly as that reads, French people cannot understand us unless we really force ourselves to think of the proper words(half the time we don't know them because we don't use them and have little exposure to proper French)
Acadians for the most part got deported beginning in 1755 to Louisiana, our biggest achievement is probably not being wiped out by the British.. I come from a small population that either hid or was deep in the woods and repopulated the lands that make up the people of New-Brunswick (and other maritime regions). We were mostly well-to-do farmers and laborers back then.
The Acadian flag,
I currently reside in the province of New-Brunswick that's located here, with many of the deported Acadians living in Louisiana still being there (known as "Cajuns")
A relatively new band came out and should give you a good idea of what we speak like, I heard these guys for the first time this morning and was laughing out loud at how familiar it sounds. (it's techno/rap)

I don't really know what I had in mind when I made this thread, but the above is what popped into mind for me...I'm sure a lot of you have a lot more then me to talk about, talk about anything - famous people, history, great feats of engineering/invention/science, war or discovery, let's make this an interesting thread. Teach us your heritage!
