Facebook Social Ads

I've been getting quite a few approved lately, for all sorts of campaigns and actual products. There are a few general rules I'm following:

1) I assume my targeting is accurate so I don't try to further target the reader with an emotional pitch (...are you fat?...wear your skinny jeans....weight loss...etc). Instead, I focus on the product itself and use a light, non-promising description in the ad title. IMO, I think everyone might be trying too hard to narrow their market. Remember, FB is not a search engine where you need to be extremely sharp with your ad title or you'll get your ass kicked...it is built for demographic marketing. In other words, trust your targeting parameters and be a little more "product descriptive" with your ad title and description. If you have targeted the right audience, they will find your ad interesting and they will click.

2) I use words that are clearly visible/emphasized at the top of the landing page. Although I can't say for sure, I believe this adds credibility/relevance to the ad since it directly relates to the landing page.

3) I stopped placing the landing page in the description. Instead of saying "sign up for free at mate1.com", I simply refer to "mate1" or if it is a health product, I might say "Dr. xxxxx shares vital information about xxx". I do not direct link with anything either...it all goes through a site I use for tracking purposes.

Whether or not those guidelines will help you, I can't say for sure.

I currently have several campaigns running between .4 and .7 CTR and FB just keeps throwing traffic at them. They maintain a fairly consistent .60 to .80 epc, and I pay anywhere from 11 cents to 24 cents a click.

Great advice; reputation points coming your way! :) On average, how large is your target market though? Also, how are your conversions for diet products on Facebook? I've ran through $50 on MSN today without a single sale.

Just a warning to all those thinking you can go ahead and use coupons on infinite accounts...

If you create a new account just for the coupons, prepare to be harshly denied. Facebook knows your tactics. You might want to try using a credit card first for a few days, and then applying the coupons.

I went ahead and used the coupons on my main account when there were 250$ worth. I am assuming they let me because its a very old account = trust.

That's great. I've haven't hit those CTR numbers, but I do have the EPCs in that range or higher. You make some great ponts. If targeted right, the traffic just converts without begging. That's what I've found. Find a need that a certain demo has and put something out there that fills it and they will come for sure.

True. Mine should be OK since my account is an old one. I just haven't used it in a long time.

Hey dudes, I'm new to all this and I've got a question about implementing this method, so bear with me here. From what I've gathered the best strategy with facebook ads is not direct linking to the affiliate's offer page but rather setting up a landing page of some sort. Now on the landing page do you guys have it setup so it automatically does a META refresh redirect to the offer page for your affiliate or do you have some sort of ad copy to entice the customer into signing up on your affiliate's site? First post by the way.

I've been doing great with only direct linking. It all depends on the offer, just like anywhere else.

Anyone know how long its taking to get ads approved these days? I just submitted my last ad yesterday...all day it sat untounched and unapproved so I went to bed. They finally reviewed it this morning and the bastards dissaproved it.

So I guess im up for another 24hr wait

lol that kinda happened to me. i made about 200 ads before i went to bed and when i woke up 5 of the 100 ads got disapproved and their the same stuff. i was like O_o..the fuck. so i resubmit a few of them and they all got approved this late afternoon. I guess its all about your wording and your demography

I usually do my ads in the evenings and they are approved/denied overnight. I just try, try again the next day if they are denied.

I usually submit my ads in the morning and they get disapproved around 12ish. As soon as I get the email, I re-submit a couple real quick and they get approved a few minutes after that D:

I got some acai ads denied "this content is prohibited from being advertised on Facebook". How the fuck is acai prohibited from FB, that's the most innocent thing you could possibly run an ad for.

OK, I just posted my first Facebook ads in about 6 months. I put them up about an hour ago and they are still 'pending review'. This should be fun.

I just realized, though, that I must have used the stinking coupon on the wrong campaign. Is there a way to transfer the ad credit from one campaign to another?

Well, my ads were shot down. They reference section 8 and 9 of the Advertising Guidelines.

OK, so this is a "crush" offer with picture of a rose and something like "Someone Likes You".

I can see where MAYBE this goes against Section 9. But Section 8??

"8. Language and image content
    • Provocative images will not be accepted.
    • Ads may not contain, facilitate or promote adult content, including nudity, sexual terms and/or images of people in positions or activities that are excessively suggestive or sexual.
    • Ads may not contain, facilitate or promote offensive, profane, vulgar, obscene, or inappropriate language.
    • Ads may not contain, facilitate or promote defamatory, libelous, slanderous and/or unlawful content."
What is offensive or vulgar about that??

>.< Jeezus...

Your coupons work like money. Once you use up all the money from coupons, it just takes from your credit card. It is assigned to your whole account, not just the ad.

And as far as your ad getting denied.. if you think it was denied for rule number 9, it probably is because of that. So why are you complaining about rule 8... They just list a few rules to make sure all corners are covered.

Or you can just stop... there is no money in FB ads, k thx.

Right. That's what I thought. No money in it.

OK, I've got to figure out how to get around #9 so I can go broke.

Looks like he was browsing through nicky's blog and saw the idea. but anyhow, facebooks not going to allow "those" type of ads to be flying around the place. Unless you state something like "Find out your Crush now" instead of "Someone has a crush on you" since fb thinks that inaccurate to the targetings. You also have to state that its a mobile campaign and they'll be charged on the monthly basis. And yes yes we know if u say sometihng like that your ctr gonna drop, your converstion rate gonna drop. But thats how fb work, u cant do it like adsense where u just throw something up and kinda hide the fees.
