Random thought...the best way to get ideas and figure out what will be successful for your next project is to become a regular user for a while. Just explore the internet like you used to back in the days...remember "surfing." Since we are some of the more experienced web users, it's easy for us to see where websites are weak, notice broad trends in the internet, and also the different opportunities it contains. Having the means to monetize those opportunities is a big advantage, but it takes everyday experience to find them. Which means that spending all your time online is not the best way to succeed in the world of the internet because then you begin to see only your "version" of it rather than seeing it from a broader scale. Ultimately it's about finding a good balance of both real world experience and internet experience. Many of the basic principles which apply to real business are equally if not more valid on the internet...except you get your feedback and results back a lot quicker.
