Anyone familiar with Slow Carb diet?

Simple question for anyone familiar with the slow carb diet.

TF says not to drink beer, but my favorite beer has 9g of carbs and 0g sugar.

Since it has no sugar, it has to be OK in moderation doesn't it?

I mean, he says a few glasses of wine a day is fine, and most wines have at least some sugar in them ...

I'm doing awesome on the "diet" after 5 days, but would def enjoy a few beers on this hot afternoon.

I've done this diet twice. Beer is a no-no if you follow his instructions. Red wine is OK and tequila can be had every once in a while.

Word of advice....you're going to lose like 15-20 pounds in the first month and then slow to a snails pace after that. It's probably best to just count your calories like people have been doing forever.

The results speak for themselves. People are losing fat and getting incredibly healthy on the "slow carb diet". If you do your research it's also one of the best muscle sparing diets. Keep in mind this is not a low carb diet. The goal isn't ketosis.

That's perfect because I only have 10-15 more lbs that I want to lose.

Can you link the studies then? I have already linked to studies that support how lean mass is compromised. I would like to see contrary scientfic based evidence.

Unless of course, I have mistaken the slow carb diet as a low carb + low fat diet.

From what I understand, Ferriss' slow-carb diet recommends lowering carbs, but doesn't address replacing them with dietary fat. That being the case, I'm not sure where energy is supposed to come from long-term.

Disclaimer: I haven't read his books. I've only read his blog.

Its not "ferriss slow carb diet", its just the slowcarb diet. He writes about it.

The slowcarb diet merely eradicates whites from your diet. grains, starches, wheat-like substances. Theyre replaced with whatever you feel like. Its not a very rigorous system. You just eliminate the toxic sludge from your diet.

Other than that, its a weightloss scheme. Its not supposed to replace "energy sources". At least not the way ferriss introduces it.

The diet helps your endocrine system get back into the habit of depleting fat storage, instead of filling them up.

Regarding the initial question: If you drink beer, you might as well not pick the diet up. Its entire point is to remove shit like that from your diet. The reason is the carbs. Wine within reason is ok, though.

I loved your post except this last bit. The beer I drink has 9 carbs and 0 sugar. A single serving of any type of legume has more than 9 carbs, which you can eat as much as you want of, so what's the problem exactly? (serious question)

Dieting is all about calories.* Everything else is marketing so the "gurus" can sell you stuff. Eat at a deficit and you'll lose weight. There is no bad foods and good foods when it comes to dieting, only quantity.

*If you have muscle, then high protein is important to preserve the muscle.

Wrong. It's not as simple as just calories in and calories out. Yes if you eat at a deficit you'll lose weight but there will be a pretty big difference if you eat 2000 calories of what I'm eating vs. 2000 calories of twinkies a day.

You're also wrong about there being no bad foods...

Foods with high amounts of sugar for example are bad because sugar is bad for you. Like really fucking bad for you. Sugar in your body has 0 benefit, and tons of BAD effects. So yeah, sugary crap is BAD FOOD. It's practically poison.

Legumes are full of healthy unsaturated fats and protein. Beer is just empty calories.

Correct, but aside from that, in my case it doesn't "interfere" with the slow carb "diet" right?

Any empty carbs will interfere with the slow carb "diet", but if you are eating very healthy otherwise, having something unhealthy in moderation is not the end of the world.

I'm talking about dieting. It's all about calories.

You're talking about nutrition and living to be 120 year old whatever else. Stick to the topic.

P.S. Sugar is not bad for you.
