critique my redesign

(1) Both sites suck dick.

But this aside; (1) make your appointment time/form always visible, period and not on a slider; (2) Acredability (BBB/Statebar, etc) above the fold with your perm. form, (3) Make your phone number pop, that shits in dark on the top.

Both are hard on the eye to be honest... and what's up with the girl in the middle, did you photoshop her in? Wait did you photoshop everybody in?

First thoughts on the redesign:

the faces that appear when you land on the new website do not look "professional," especially the guy in glasses and the Hispanic looking dude.

It also lacks the "law" feel that the first one has with books and other "law" paraphernalia like the official document in the header. (Bridges and keys look cool, too).

The color scheme of the 2nd one is blah, cookie-cutter stuff. If you visit a few city or police websites you'll see that they use blue-gold and black/white colors a lot. This establishes trust/credibility. That's why first site looks definitely more professional than the redesign.

Another thing - what's up with that hour glass? What does that even represent?

Clarify some things on the 2nd website - put what they do directly in the header, and use big letters. Like "Going through a divorce? We can help you get the most money out of your husband." (example)

Get a professional photographer to take a pro pic of the company.
It does look like a photoshop job, and its too dark. The women with darker hair shouldn't be wearing dark clothing (for the pic anyway).

Looks like a photoshop nooob designed it - just because you have photoshop and can find your way around it does not make you a designer. Either you are brand new to design, or you just don't have it.

It's better than the old I guess, so there is that.

But fuck all, beside the weak design the markup is HORRENDOUS. A complete clusterfuck. You've got 12 or so calls to misc js files, 7 different CSS files, plus inline css and inline JS. There is no semantic value to the markup it's self. This kind of markup is disgraceful.

HTML:
<div class="visible-phone-landscape">
<div style="width: 370px; margin-left: 47px;">

Shit like that, wtf?

Ohh, i'll be honest, both look bad... better grab a template from themeforest, you'll find better looking ones and save time

I'm no designer either, but I know what looks good and these don't.

I'll second the notion of picking up a nice premium theme on ThemForest for $45 bucks. There's only about a thousand on there that are better than your redesign theme.

The company logo with a dark background on the blue theme background looks unprofessional. Make that logo a transparent png and lose the hour glass. If you want to use some law symbol grab one with the scales of justice or something like that.

The phone number in the header is virtually invisible. It's like you have a #434343 bg with a #4b4b4b font color. Fix that and make it so people can read the phone #.

Like jorarulit said, get those BBB logos up where people can see them. That's an instant trust maker right there, even if you have the worst BBB profile in history.

Some tips if you dont plan on redesigning/outsourcing it completely.

1) Make the people's slider smaller, that way you can hide the "feathering" on the persons outlines a bit.

1.a) Either center the darn image or make it completely offset to the right or left. The same with the "Professional Law Corporation" (what is that?)

2.) Change professional law corporation with something like, "Over 15 years providing professional law services in State"

3.) Make the logo bg transparent. if you can't, hire someone to redo/adapt their logo and give you a transparent file format.

4.) As above, make the telephone number visible. Add store hours just below it.

It's not terrible, the inside pages look nice and clean but the homepage definitely needs some work.

Quick mockup, may help get you more feedback. But looking at it again, the design doesnt speak professional or law by any means. Its pretty clear template-like work.

- no address on home page.
- get rid of that stupid keyword stuffing "Areas We Serve" area on bottom left
two big local seo fails

TY! Will change that.

What's up with that hour glass? What does that even represent?
the hourglass - yeah that's his schtick. i guess it represents the fact that they buy people more time to stay in their homes.

HTML:
<div class="visible-phone-landscape">
<div style="width: 370px; margin-left: 47px;">

Shit like that, wtf?

the site loads different images/slide sizes & animations depending upon whether the users using a mobile device, tablet, or desktop web browser.

Look at the site as if you were a customer searching out info. Would YOU use this site? Don't expect people to read paragraphs of info to find what they need.

1. makes sense. that way some more content on the site will show too.

A. its part of the sign they were posing in front of.. but I had to shorten the height of the picture so I didnt want to use the full sign. maybe i should crop out the "professional law corp" and put just the people themselves in the picture -

3. will do. logo at this point is a placeholder - was planning on not making it contrast so much.

4.hours of operation good deal.
