wasn;t military personnel there.
men who's trained to fight. yet they nothing. fight back?
with gun? hands?
They couldn't fight with guns, this is one of the few movie theaters that restricted Concealed Handgun Owners from carrying guns.
how many gun battles you've been in?
Having a concealed gun doesn't make you an instant Rambo. No one is saying that Brittany, who just passed her CHL and carries a compact pistol in her purse should of pulled out and fired.
If you have a CHL, you know the laws of your state and when you can use deadly force and you are NEVER covered by friendly fire. Even if being shot at.
So most people would only pull it and shoot if they felt capable of doing it, either from military, law enforcement or private tactical training. (Which is pretty popular among CHL holders).
A lot of my Jiu-Jitsu buddies who have concealed licenses take ECQC tactical training classes all the time, in fact we are heading up to a really good one later on this year. To generalize that every CHL has no training is silly and fallacious.
My best friend is ex army paratrooper who cleared houses in Iraq...he is a CHL holder. My brother is a marine sniper, he is a CHL holder and neither one of them would of been able to have their gun on them that day.
That being said, how many shoot outs had the Kid shooting everyone been in?
What does how many bar fights he's been in, have to do with a gun massacre at the movies?
only in merika where we talk shit and wouldn't bust a grape in a fruit fight.
trust me. we're not that bad.
That is a hasty generalization. Sounds like you're projecting personal levels of your confidence on to an entire nation.
crowded dark theater with tear gas.
My conceal gun has a 187 Lumen Tactical light attachment that would of turned that place into daytime and blinded anyone looking near it with a headache.
I can't tell you exactly how anything would play out had I been there....but I can tell you that if I shined that in his eyes, especially in a room filling with gas and while he is wearing a mask. He would be completely blinded. And not just while the light was on him, but for a while afterwards. If I blinded him, and it wasn't possible to take a shot at him...there could be the option to tackle him.
And thats maybe the only scenario your "bar fight" question makes sense, and in that case...I GUARANTEE he would be fucked if I got ahold of him. I've training and taught BJJ for the last 5 years and there is no way a guy with all that heavy shit on, would be able to stop me from restraining him.
So there are NON leathal ways to handle it and as a responsible gun owner, you would have to make the responsible choice.
Although I'm good with my iron sights, It also comes with a green laser that eliminates guessing, hitting area's without body armor, if I had to shoot.
With Hollow Points to make sure it stays in him and doesn't hit anyone behind him.
dude, this is not the movies. people didn't have infrared on their caps. and everything in slow motion.
Well....technically it IS the movies =)
That said, he didn't have infrared or slow motion either. He had 100's of targets to track. If a few CHL holders were in there....if they had a sure shot, they could of potentially stopped him.
No one is guaranteeing anything, the problem is.....the ability to conceal there and protect themselves was removed because they banned CHL's. Whats the point? Did they think that kid was going to walk up, read the 3.06 No gun sign and go "whooops, I didnt' know these weren't allowed in here".
this isn't someone breaking into your home or robbing you in the street.
Nope, in your house or on the street...the intruder is focused only on you. Other disadvantages shift, there is more innocents that you have to be aware of, or possible could prevent you from shooting at him.
DARK. TEAR GAS. COMMOTION.
am i the only one with simple logic here.
Your actually not using logic, you're using logically fallacies to appear logical. You are generalizing an entire country. You are generalizing every CHL holder, their competence and their training and you are tilting every odd in the Killers favor.
I'm not guaranteeing that a CHL holder would of for sure stopped him, I'm saying it's silly that they prevented the option from happening in the first place. There might of been quite a few, competent, trained people legally carrying their weapons that could of prevented or softened some of the damage.
how many times you went to a theater and checked out potential escape routes. how many times you noticed when someone come into the theater?
I for one always pay attention to these things. When I go to restaurants, I don't typically have my back to open places if I have a choice. At the movies I actually ALWAYS sit near the isle or in the front were the rails are for easy exits.
THAT is mostly because I hate having to walk past people to get food, taking my kids to the bathroom or getting stuck in the crowd when the movie lets out.
Point is, you are generalizing again. You have no idea what people do or think. It is true what you say, some people DON'T think that way ever or have any training but you can't generalizing and make positive assertions that no one does. The truth is, there are a lot of trained CHL holders out there.
none of you have CQC training, so shut the fuck up with this shit.
Again, this isn't for a good chunk of my friends.
This isn't a game. stop talking tough
You are correct, it isn't a game. And it would not be easy to do anything and it would be scary. But where you might be too scared of dying, that you won't do anything....I would be more scared of my wife and kids getting hurt, that I WOULD do something.
