I typed on a shitty $9.95 keyboard for years and it damaged my fingers and arms to the point I couldn't type anymore. I eventually got an ergonomic keyboard (which I paid out the ass for) and it fixed all my problems. If you're going to spend 15 hours a day typing you might as well get the best tool you can. There's a reason why mechanics buy several high quality wrenches instead of a $9.95 all purpose wrench.
I do miss mechanical keyboards though. I remember raging and throwing one against a brick wall. The only thing that happened was a few keys popped off. Try doing that with any modern keyboard.
I agree but there are proper tools and those that are overkill. Mechanical remind me of overkills.
