Hi guys,

I need to buy a new computer, and really can't decide if the iMac is what i need. I'm interested in the Apple iMac 27-inch 2.8GHz quad-core i5 witch is 1770 euro here ( 2400$ ).

Anybody that own or used iMac, please tell me the positive sides, and also the negative.

Is it worth the money, or should i buy a desktop PC?

Buy it. The only cons to it is it's an Apple and everybody got one.

If you love Windows, you can get a much more powerful system for the same price.

IBM for life.

Definitely a sick machine. I had the 3.4GHz one and I sold it because it was more than I needed.

I'd recommend checking out the refurbished models to get the best deal. Apple refurbs are pretty much the same as buying it new and you can get some great deals.

I'd look at this one Refurbished iMac 27-inch 3.4GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7 - Apple Store (U.S.) Basically the top of the line version. Only thing missing is the 2GB video card and the additional internal HD, but you can just use an external HD for each if you need extra storage.

27" 3.4GHz with 256GB SSD. The SSD really makes a huge difference.

Pop some Crucial memory in that thing for cheap. It's like $80 to upgrade it to 16GB (why the fuck not?).

If you have the monney go for it.

iMac has such a rich feel to it. Its simple to use and you got 27 inch screen that outputs HD. Me personally I would Get a regular PC , and right next to it an iMac 27 inch. So got to monitors, true multi tasking.

iMacs monitors are overpriced shit as well.. You can get a 120hz 24" or 27" for 399/499. iMac monitors are what.. 70hz at best? Granted you can only get 120hz in 1920x1080 max atm for 24" and 27" (I got the 24", 27" at that res would be weird). I recently built a i7-2600k, 8gb ram, 128gb SSD and 2 weeks ago added a GTX 580 and the 120hz monitor (BF3 nigga! good luck running that on an imac).. spent like $1500 or so all up and it's not top top of the line but it's almost there.

You're going to spend $1000 more and you'll only have a fucking i5? I owned an apple laptop but I sold it.. biggest purchasing mistake ever. I bought into the faggotry but once I realised it what a faggot I had turned into, I went back to the PC).

I could build 2-3 windows PCs that are faster for the same money as that imac. Just saying.

I could buy 700 packets of Sea Monkeys that live longer and show less bugs for the same price as 2-3 PCs. Just saying.

Man...iMac is great. Though I don't own one.. I saw an iMac two days back and that was amazing..you will definitely love it. Initial bootup takes time but other than that..it will be great.

ok, done bought it, and the first impression is that i made a very good investment. already started to love it, specially the display

^ Good choice. The screen is a great feature. I've seen other LED screens, but don't think I've ever seen anything that compares to the Apple screens.

I have been spending the past 3 weeks battling with this insufferable Macbook Pro. I would never buy a mac desktop. Ever. Ever.

HATERS GONNA HATE.
I wonder how many of the haters have actually used a Mac. You're not paying for the fucking specs, you're paying for the user experience. Retards don't understand it. Not everything is a bunch of cables and hard drives. Since I bought a Mac now every other computer looks ugly to me. If you're not a hardcore gamer, and you have the cash, get the Mac. Surely you can build a PC equivalent for less than the half but the user experience never will be the same. Fuck the PCs lol.
