I am talking about other threads. For clarity 'various threads' should read 'various *other* threads'. But you should have picked up on that.
Nu-uh. Your whole quote:
you seem to be the only person with enough time to multi-quote in threads for 6 or 7 pages (like you've done above) until the other person is exhausted.
The word "Above" means IN THIS THREAD. That's what I was refuting. (I'll plead no contest to the fact that I've run on too long in the past.)
Lots of assumptions in there. But I believe your whole problem here is your interpretation of what I was here to do in the first place. You use the phrase "Raise the Alarm." -But this simply is not the case, nor is it close.
In the first place it would only be in a
Christian's best interest to 'raise the alarm' over a trend of anti-Christianity in ABC's programming. Clearly I am not a christian, as witnessed by several dozen other threads on this board and even by many of the comments on this thread like Ly2's, so really, your whole point is moot.
Secondly, about the severity of the newsbreaking I did; why do you assume it was on par with "Raising Alarms" instead of me simply posting pics of a hottie in a forum called "shooting the shit" and mentioning to my buds that ABC did something strange with this hottie...
I mean really, it's as if I said "Hey, that hot chick farted" and you replied: "No need to murder her with an axe dude, we should just walk the other direction..."
More big assumptions. I wasn't so much "taking it up a notch" as I was trying to explain that it was a fart and not a sonic weapon. People like yourself simply didn't get what I was trying to say in the OP.
Wow... I believe you took that quite a bit too far there. This song, intended or otherwise, _IS_ an attack on the fabric of the christian establishment, which is obvious. I can't believe you would have any problem with that statement alone, do you?
To go on to attribute me with saying: "the christian right has failed. That they've given up trying to fight a loosing battle" is completely fabricated and makes me think poorly of your arguing skills.
I do feel what many atheists here in this forum have voiced many times that the establishment (including media like ABC) is obviously christian in this country and that they would usually always want to keep things slightly on the christian side of non-religious... Because obviously they're job is to sell stuff to this country chocked full of christians, so it's not like I'm talking conspiracy, it's just business as usual.
I felt this aberration from their norm was an unusual event, newsworthy enough for the STS section of WF to mention. I did not submit it to any news outlets, even atheist ones; I promise.
I have blown nothing out of proportion. It _IS_ newsworthy, but it is not the end of christianity, nor is it any of the other fabricated statements you tried pinning on me.
Really, go back and read the OP and take it for what it means. I said it was unusual, not a sign of the end of freaking Christianity!
Again, I'm atheist, so I obviously don't want to ring alarm bells. And Again, that's you blowing the proportions, not what I intended at all.
I did not say "as big as," nor did I ask why no one believed me. Those are both your incorrect inferences.
What I did do that appears to have elevated things in post #28 was mention the significance of ABC family/Disney pumping out content that bashes the bible to millions of tweeners.
This was done for clarification, not to say "OMG DA SKY IZ FALLIN!" I don't do that. I felt the need to clarify because posts numbers 2, 3, 6, 7, 8, & 9 all seemed to have missed the point. If just one or two posts had missed it, I would have not felt the need to make post #10.
I do not know of any other times when ABC or Disney either, or for that matter ANY other Childrens programming has on this Continent throughout its' entire history ever published any such lyrics or sentiments so at odds with the bible. Do you?
I may be mistaken, but even if I am you have to admit it's not common.
So I thought it was therefore newsworthy enough for STS. If it isn't someone has yet to explain that to me. Although Moxie & Turbo have a point about how ABC Family isn't such a children's safehaven anymore, I still doubt it or any other network of that size in the USA has ever heavily promoted such anti-christian lyrics.
If I am wrong please show me; it would genuinely give me a little more hope for humanity.
