NEW Facebook Ads

How exactly are you determining that click fraud is occurring? Are you talking about clicks reported by Facebook versus actual clicks in your tracking system? Our campaign performance has dropped off a cliff in the last 45-60 days.

1. If targeting Canada, get ~ 20% clicks from Japan, Turkey, Spain, etc...
2. In addition to the unwanted geo locations, another 20% of clicks FB is charging and recording in their ad manager never hit my server.

I believe FB used to geo target ads based on your ip, but now they display ads based on your location in your profile, current ip location, and previous ip locations. That sucks a lot, but what sucks more is being charged for a significant amount of clicks that never actually occur. Also, I'm not talking about what Prosper202 records... I'm looking at server logs.

This was pretty bad in the past, but as ayzo pointed out, was resolved shortly after Tech Cruch made that post (if i remember correctly).

So does facebook blow you guys off if you complain about the fake clicks?

Does face book still accept biz opp? I'm testing my new offer on adsonar, and it's doing well there. So I am curious about Facebook as well. It really depends on whether or not this fake click problem gets resolved.

The new interface is pretty slick at a first glance, I must say.

Yeah, the new interface is actually really nice...HOWEVER...why the hell did they take out the option to look at the entire history of an ad???

They took out 'all time' and replaced it with '28 days'.

What the fucking fuck???

man anyone having extra long approval times these past few days? each batch of ads I've submitted in the past 3 days have been 30+ hours til they got approved

also the reach vs. impressions thing throws me off a bit. it's easy enough to figure it out but not sure why they made such a big shift towards individuals reached when they have no limit on views per user per session.

Maybe this is is a hint at a step in that direction? that would be aweeesome

when do u decide to get rid of an ad. Lately I have been hvaing so many ads come out of the gate so strongly. the first 10 clicks above .4 ctr and than after the 30th click they drop to like .05 ctr. It's so frustrating.

This brings me to my next question; can the reverse happen? I've never really tested an ad that starts off with a really low ctr past like 5 clicks

how many clicks do u typically wait to see if the ctr will hold?

I've had an ad go from .12 all the way up to .2 ish but typically that doesn't happen. i think that only happened because i decreased bid and it doesn't get as many impressions.

@JahRuhle I've seen ads go from .1 to .8 over the course of a week. There are so many variables though and it's not likely this will happen. However, make sure you test all times of the day throughout the entire week - you will be surprised at what you see.

THIS IS MOVED FROM A DIFFERENT THREAD OF MINE, NOT SURE IF IT SHOULD BE HERE

So I'm pretty new to this game, and I've been advertising on Facebook for about three weeks now. I have tried the good old strategy of jumping into it, making campaigns and learning by losing a little money. I've tried a ton of shit and I seem to keep on running into two major problems that are keeping me from making my campaigns profitable. I've tried targeting large ass demos(like 9mill), making my ads very vague in an attempt to just get people to click the damn thing .This has given me decent CTR's which gave me cheap cpc's, but I have found these vague ads don't convert worth shit.
Then I have also made ads specific to my offer for the same large demo, but I find that when I make ads that are specific to my offer that I get awesome conversions around 12%, but then my CTR is shit?! causing my cpc's to be way too high keeping me from profiting.

So where do you guys find the balance between having good quality traffic and having a high CTR.

I want to try super targeted trafficking but I find that the starting cpc bid is ridiculously high. The starting bid would cost more than what the actual offer is worth, and I’m also afraid that it wouldn’t give me enough traffic. I know these are probably noob questions but I'm getting a little desperate. I don't mind putting in the extra hours and work for campaigns, but a little guidance would be nice!
Oh yeah: I've been direct linking and mainly promoting gaming offers like Wizard101

dont pay attention to the suggested starting bid. Start off with like a .60 cent bid and they will give u traffic. also, make sure u are targeting gaming demos. stackthatmoney.com has a good guide for gaming.

good luck bro

thanks bro, I've been too scared to try that niche of a market but I will definitely give it a try. Whats considered to small of a demo? is 500,000 and under too small???

my first profitable campaign had a demo of 20,000. It's easier to start off with a smaller demo when you are new.
