You've got 25k to pend on a car, what do you buy?

Not if your drag racing.

I assumed people were talking about street/highway.

While I don't see the relevance, no. I've always loved VWs, had 3 of them and never had any major problems.

I didn't buy it because I look for speed, (although I bust decent ponies to the wheels when some daddy's boy is showing off) I bought it because I've always loved these cars. I could have bought a 5th gen jetta but I don't like the design as much as the 4th gen.

In any case, when racing under any conditions, unless one car has way more power, it's the driver that makes the difference.

Hurr durr

I don't know if this is hearsay, assumption or just plain BS. Sure a stock civic isn't any more than a reliable, economic car, but when you open the options of aftermarket as you did this becomes a different ballgame. Civics have over the years done very well at autocross racing (road with corners). Without a turbo my nephews civic will keep up with his brothers 06 Z06 to a hundred or so and it will run forever.

BTW, worlds fastest BMW is 7.0s @198mph, fastest civic 6.54 @ 211.73mph.

Rep.

Why would you Rep that. Real racing involves turns, that civic will fall apart on the first corner.
I've seen idiots throw prelude engines in little civic hatchbacks. Why not just strap some wheels to an engine sit on top of it and race that.

LOL i cannot believe people are actually recommending civics for anything besides driving to work and back. A civic for racing? Fucking lol.

I wouldn't go over 60 in a civic.

There is no such thing as "real racing". Just because you like or dislike one type doesn't make it any more or less real. Racing can be anything, road racing, pikes peak climb, baha, drag racing, autocross, f1, drifting, hell, even nascar is racing. I've seen a lot of idiots with civics that think they are fast and I've seen lots of civics that are fast. To assume a civic will fall apart on the first corner is absurd.

No turns here, but this small block will leave you needing to change your tighty whiteys.

small block olds

That's not a civic it's a blemish on the automotive world, but at least the dud is having fun with it.

I bow to your google image search skills. I guess you're gonna die if you drive a Honda, good thing BMW makes safe cars for us.

Regardless of which car is safer or not (bmw and hondas are pretty much equal in safety, see: Honda Crash-Test Results, Honda Safety Information, Honda Insurance Data, NHTSA, IIHS, NCAP, ASA, Accord, Civic, Odyssey, Integra, Legend, Passport, CRX, CRV, Prelude, Acty and BMW Crash-Test Results, BMW Safety Information, BMW Insurance Data, NHTSA, IIHS, NCAP, BMW, 3 series, 5 series, 7 series, Z3, Z8, M3, M5, 535, 540, 740, 325, 330, 328, 530, 535)... if you drop a couple grand in a civic to add a hundred horses to be able to beat a few cars on the road, congratulations, you are still a fucking idiot.

Consider an infinity G35 (coupe for more sportyness). Classy but still has power under the hood. For 25k you can get a very good 2007+ model <100K miles.

Also, consider Cadillac CTS-V's for something more "masculine" or even Lexus IS 250 (best reliability+luxury combo)

Thanks for your input, champ. I've competed in Motorkhanas and Autocrosses since I was 13 years old and in a variety of different cars. It was fun doing it in the BMW, and I raised a hell of a lot of eyebrows with its times that day, but every other time I was significantly quicker in a small Jap car. This is because this style of racing lends itself to light and nimble vehicles.

And if I was competing in drag racing, I would choose a large capacity V8, bolt on some forced induction, and drop it into a small, light chassis.

But this thread is about buying a good value, good quality car for daily driving. So STFU and go back to your Junior High Debating Team.

so funny to see you guys get all heated up by some car discussion.

My vote stands: e46 M3 Coupe Facelift version. Lightweight, beautiful revised Inline 6 engine with no turbos and comes with leather package and other luxury.

I got my Acura MDX with about 4 years on it and 60k miles on it for 11K. Dealer was asking 24k. I talked him down.

my e92 m sport with V4 > *

Granted I bought it brand new, but you could pick up a 07 for around this, won't be cpo tho, and you gotta be the dumbest fuck buying a luxury car without warranty.

Save up, rock nikes
