youporn pornhub brazzers founder/owner arrested... bad taxes

This.

Want to pay 0 taxes?....you will do well in most African countries and some LA countries. Mind you, I can list a thousand reasons why is better to live in a developed country where they tax you like hell than staying in a third world country (living, not visiting.)

I think you've got it backward. High taxes usually happen AFTER a country is stabilized or prosper, in other word, high taxes does not make a country better.

The more prosper the country and when the government is no longer faced with life or death decisions anymore, they tend to create more regulations and more ways of taking money from the economy. You can see this in action in so many emerging economies of the world today.

That much wealth leads to inflated sense of power and entitlement, never super surprised when these guys get nailed for skipping taxes

A sense of power and entitlement leads to that much wealth.

This too.

Here in Argentina, tax evasion is so easy than even a toddler can get away with it. In countries where everybody evades taxes, it tells a lot about its population, meaning, what they're willing to do in order to profit more, not even thinking that such taxes might be well applied when building a hospital or a public school. All major cities are flooded with every single type of crime known to man. Break and Enter, kidnapping, express kidnappings, "entraderas" (when they kill you just as you enter the car to the garage) "salideras" (when they rob or kill you just as you step out of the bank, we use a lot of cash down here, mainly to evade taxes).

I visited Canada multiple times, and I must say that even though their taxes are high, they don't have to deal with endless problems like we do in a daily basis.

Now, could taxes be lower in countries like Canada/Australia?, sure, but not to the point where you start lacking a decent police force, good public education institutions and, to a proper degree, a universal health care system.

A popular comedian from Quebec once said: criminals hate cold weather :)

I think it's very true. It's hard to go outside looking for trouble when it's -30. You'd much rather be cozy in your living room drinking a Labatt Blue.

What I like about Canada is that we don't have the worldwide taxation system like in the U.S., so it's still relatively easy to stash your money abroad if you wanted to... you just need to be smart about it.

There's a grain of truth in that logic, governments or parts of the public sector do try and justify their own existence and generate revenue through tax to do do so.

But the higher tax/low tax avoidance -> developed, crime free, highly educated population correlation is not a coincidence.

Its more complicated than that anyway, just saying "tax is theft" or "low tax makes everything efficient" is really simplistic.

In any case, you can see examples of places where people pay little tax and subscribe to the "tax is theft" mantra so much that they don't bother paying (argentina, greece, Russia) vs. countries like Germany or Scandinavia where taxes are comparatively high/tax avoidance is low. The population in the latter group is richer, better educated, more economically competitive and so on. But examples don't prove anything to people who have already decided what they want to be true.

It's kind of a pointless argument anyway - can you imagine any conceivable scenario where tax stops being collected and we go to the supposed free for all paradise?
