On the firing line
After a couple weeks I finally hit on something!

Basically I took a combination of Chrislingle's thread on PPC affiliate stuff, and one of Shoemoney's posts on ringtones and spent the past two days tweaking the keywords and negatives etc.

And finally I got 3 hits, and converted 2!! NICE!!

Oh yeah, cost: $0.36
Revenue: $25.50
Net: $25.14

<edit>I was looking at the wrong screen. It actually took 32 clicks and the cost was $8.78. Still, I'll take a 1:16 conversion anyday!</edit>

Off to do this with another offer! and another, and another...:banana_sml:

It feels great! I've got affiliate sales before, just never through PPC. So, I'm amped that I got this through a method that I previously had never used.

Now, I just need to duplicate that about 200 times a day...

2 conversions with 3 hits is not really enough data to do cartwheels over.. But congratulations and hopefully it will continue. Though 900:1 or whatever your getting is not gonna be something you will repeat over and over.

If youre using google this always happens you get a sale with a small amount of clicks then wait forever for the next one, i think when you first start a campaign google will put you in each spot (1st, 2nd, etc) once they get enough data you end up in either 1st or 10th. The few sales ou got probably came from being in 1st or 2nd spot.

I dont want to burst your bubble this is a great first step .. but there is much more to go to get it huge.

Yeah, I was looking at the wrong page. I edited my original post.

It's actually 32 clicks for 2 sales. Still very happy with the end result.

No sure. The clicks have actually been coming from the Content ads, not the regular ads. My average position is 5.7. I've got 0 clicks from the normal SERP's ads cuz my ave posit there is 52.6 or something ridiculous.

No bubble bursting here, Mike. Don't worry. I'm just very happy to see something new actually work.

Now that I've got my PPC cherry popped, I'm interested to see what happens over 200 clicks or so. I don't think 32 is enough to really predict much.

Is there usually a lag in "Real Time" stats?

I'm looking at the stats in Google / Looksmart and MSN, and combined there is now about 100 clicks, but my affiliate stats only show 19.

Also, I'm forwarding and masking, would that have an effect on tracking?

your stats should be in real time. Are you sending the traffic to a monkey page or straight to the offer?

The number of clicks you see in the PPC stats versus the clicks you see in your affiliate stats will NEVER match. Ever. I could go into several paragraph explanation of why, but just accept that fact of life. Also, with only 2 conversions you have nothing significant to go on yet. But keep testing, you may be on to something. Once you have about 50-100 conversions you should have enough good data to start tweaking your campaigns.

If you are using azoogle I think they will give you a couple sales at the start of every campaign. I notice that on most new offers i try i will get a sale within the first few clicks and then not for a while after. Hopefully thats not the case but, there is alot of good info in those threads. Im sure with all of that you can get some profitable campaigns going

LOL! I'm a bit of a retard...

The reason why my stats don't match is I'm sending people to a monkey page, then they have to click through from there to the sponsor. I forgot that I changed that last night at around 2 am. I was just sending people straight to the sponsor, and bypassing any sort of presell page.

with ringtones from my experience you can get 5$ ecpc one day, the next it's .09$ ecpc... literally
and you cannot predict

Yea, this is exactly what usually happens. There's also season products or product that has been featured in some popular program or magazine and you just happen to put your adwords ad up in the right time. Then you wonder why you don't get sales suddenly.

However good start SEO_Mike. I just found a campaign that has been getting 2-3 sales per day. Each sale produces $40, and it costs about $1-2 per sale in Adwords. But that company has been advertising pretty heavily lately so I expect it to dry soon, but you gotta kick it while it's alive.
