Now i know you guys joke around here alot and im new so maybe my question is going to sound stupid but i am about to pick some software to track affiliates and would appreciate your opinion.

i was looking at

idevaffiliate

omnistar

Does it come down to preference, or are some just better than others?

I would appreciate any advice on other affiliate management software, thank you.

-Also what is the deal with Link Connector is that just a network or offering software for the merchant?

Can i use something like idevaffiliate with link connector? The reason i ask is because i see everyone using idev has there landing page for affiliate to sign up and anyone using link connector has link connector landing page for affiliates to sign up as well. Im a bit confused there.

I used Idev a few years back for my affiliate program and I liked it very much. It has a lot of features for the affordable price and the owner is a pretty good person.

Magnet,
Which version did you use (standard, gold, platinum)?
Does it take long to get everything set-up, tested and working (think end-user, not programmer)?
Is the tracking fairly accurate in your experience, or did you have a lot of complaints from your affs?
Also, does it have any 'shaving' and 'scrubbing' features built in?

Are you still using it? If not, what made you stop and what did you move to?

Much appreciated.

I used the standard as I didn't really need all the bells and whistles... just something to track the sales... It pretty much came ready to use right out of the box.. just install and set a couple things in the configuration.

Tracking seemed pretty accurate. I also used it to track my Adwords sales and it tracked ever sale that came from it.

If I remember correctly it let you either deleted sales completely or adjust the commission.

This was about 3 years ago so I am sure a lot has changed with it since then.

thanx alot, i think its a great program i may go with it.

I find that LinkConnector has many big companies so it makes me want to go there BUT

Network Fee
As is standard in the Affiliate Marketing industry, LinkConnector charges merchants a fee based on the commissions paid to their affiliates. For self managed accounts, LinkConnector charges 20%* of the commission paid to the affiliate. For example, if the merchant pays an affiliate a $10.00 commission, the merchant would pay LinkConnector a $2.00 network fee. This would be in addition to the $10.00 commission paid out to the affiliate, for a total cost to the merchant of $12.00. For co managed, this fee is 25%*. We are proud to offer our merchants some of the lowest network fees in the industry.

They want 20% when i will have to pay nothing to idevaff, i just buy it? 20% is most people profit margin off the sale, for my business it makes sense to pay out the measly 20% of a few bucks per lead, because we upsell offline, but if we took full payement online, something like $500 that would be crazy.

Although X% of something is better than x% of nothing.

Well if you want to go with a network then expect to pay fees... they have to make monies too. If the fees scare you then your affiliate program is simply not ready to use them yet anyways.

I also had a good experience with Idev. Its very user friendly and allowed me to analyze all of the information that I needed.
