I haven't done much work on wordpress, ever really, and i've spent the last couple of hours trying to find an answer to this question.

I am setting up my site with a static home page. That's easy, however, I want to also be able to include some of my posts on that static home page, say, my previous 4 or 5 posts. I don't want to include the entire post, basically just the preview that shows the headline, and a few sentences after that.

I've found plugins that will put links by just using [get_posts] within the html of the home page, but I want the preview of the posts. I would also like to be able to include thumbnails of any graphics / pictures included, similar to the featured posts you see on a lot of blogs. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to do this?

Ok I guess my post was a bit confusing. The purpose of this, is to have a static home page, that I can have a lot of other shit on, and still be able to have it put blog posts on there dynamically on different sections of this page. No i'm not wanting my home page to be the typical blog page that most blogs have when you go to the site.

put yout static content in a normal post, edit the visibility of this post on the right side and check "Stick this post to the front page".

I had actually thought of this, however its not showing up on the main page at all, only on the blog page.
