I was watching a show today and the topic was counterfeiting in china and how it is inevitable .. and I just thought of this strategy (not sure if its unique or not) for the corporations to combat the problem.
Here it goes:
Instead of setting up rules, regulations and trying to catch counterfeiters, they should go into the business themselves. They should create shoddy copies of their own products and underprice the counterfeiters, driving them out of business. Once they leave, stop your operations and resume once they start popping up again. This way you control counterfeiting and manage to rake in 'some' money that is lost to counterfeiters.
