Why does decaptcher.com suck so much?

I'll give +rep and tits if anyone recommends a better service, and if you're anywhere near southern Cali, I'll get you high, too.

Rumor is some russians bought decaptcher for their own spam endeavors and customers are secondary. Time to move on. ITT is fast but more expensive.

Heres the captcha solving services that I know of

Bypass Captcha Bypass Captcha is my favorite. Reasonably priced and better than decaptcha.

Captcha Entry Service - Captcha Bypass they are also supposed to be good

http://www.deathbycaptcha.com/ here is another service - never tried it but its on my list just in case the other ones are down

http://www.deathbycaptcha.com
there is also ImageToText.com - Image to Text Translation Services but for the service provided they are horribly overpriced and not really at all competitive...

I use bypass heavily and rarely have any more problems with them than with the others. Always a fail rate since no one can read all captchas.

decaptcha is decaptcher.com

what is itt? I keep reading in my head "in this thread" lol

And that sucks to hear that most people are decaptcha resellers AND they got bought by Russians. I'll have to check out those services and I might even up the ante on the titties offer from uplinked :-)

I promised tits -- I lied, here's ass instead.

I'll hand out rep when I try one of these services and I'm happy with it :)

Alright guys, I bit the bullet and got a Death By Captcha account last night. It was a tough $1.75 to part with, but I did it.

Seems to work ok right now. Their Pseudo-API calls are annoying (They call it an api, but it just returns the whole backend webpage, so you have to parse the dom to get the info), but it's pretty straightforward.

I'm really close to having a Ruby library completely done, just need to tighten things up. If anyone is interested, I'll post it up here. Let me know.

I feel as if deathbycaptcha eats up my funds way faster than it should when compared to decaptcher. Anyone notice this?

I got a Death By Captcha account, too, but every time I try calling one of their API methods (ruby + python) i get an HTTP 303, which supposedly means I'm using the wrong URL.

I emailed their support about it, and signed up with BypassCaptcha.com in the meantime; $14/2000 captchas isn't too bad, just waiting on my API key... *sighs*

I got death by captcha to work, but they're slower than fucking slow. I'm gonna experiment today with them, maybe I was hitting them at an awkward time.

I don't know about all of these outsourced capcha services though. They all seem to unanimously suck. If I had more time I'd start playing with straight up cracking these programmatically, but that's it own beast.

Anyone done it? reCaptcha pops up on a lot of the sites I want to "use", and to my somewhat untrained eyes they seem pretty simple to break with some crafty "remove the black circle bs" moves. If those circles can get kicked to the curb, the actual letters seem pretty clean, and they also don't seem to touch very much.

So who are the captcha coders here? +rep to someone who responds with info regarding doing it in Ruby

Decaptcher worked on very thin margins and they are victims of their own success -- or their own stupidity / greed (to not reinvest in expansion of the business).

Like turbo said above, there have been certain rumors about a russian buying them off for his own spam operations. And yeah, it is time to move on and diversify. At least, we have and are releasing more captcha options for our customers.
