why are most seo products $97

why is it that most SEO & marketing products are nealy always priced @ $97 is some kind of TAX thing or what ?

Kinda reminds me when you see items for sale in stores.. 'only $99.99'. Most people see it as more of a deal than $100 for some reason.

I love the car commercials though.. where they say you can get a lease for "under $500 a month" and it's like $495. :D
 
My theory is that I fucking hate that they don't include sales tax in the price, and use some oddball number, so I have to do some $99.99 number *.135 in my head.
 
clearance

.97 usually signifies clearance prices at stores like walmart and others. Maybe seo books are usually clearance priced since the information will probably be out of date soon ;)
 
The reduced from $395 to $178 to $97 is one of the oldest tricks in marketing.

You get the feeling that you are really getting a great deal at $97, because, what if they suddenly raise the price back to $395? Of course, when it comes to informational products, that doesn't happen too often (to say almost never). :)
