I'm interested in getting into the stock market, but I cannot decide on what company I should use to help me trade. The popular ones I've seen were: etrade, scottrade, sharebuilder and tdameritrade.

For any of you that have been trading, can you please recommend what site I should use. Would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks in advance.

Facebook IPO's next month?

Hm.. I don't know how it is in the US but over here you can register with ANY investment bank, and they each have their own trading platform. It's pretty standardized so all you need to do is compare the brokerage fees.

Sharebuilder is a 1-2-3 type of setup. Their speed is just as good as any other online broker, but their fees per trade are like two or three dollars more than most. I can't give you any advice as I don't really care about speed of trades too much. I'm a long-term type of investor.

Edit: Scottrade is incredible if you're looking for some fast buys/sells. Just remember to load up your account ahead of time for the Facebook deal. I'd also like to point out that both brokers have easy to use UIs.

With Facebook's IPO happening next month, I want to get a piece of the action.

Hello friend,

Unless you have tens or hundreds million dollars with invesment bank that write Facebook IPO i no think can be able for buy shares during IPO. Will have wait day it first trade on stock market for buy shares.

Good luck bro

I would just go with the lowest cost one. A lot of banks like BoA will give you an account with free trades if you have a check/savings with them already.

If you are looking to actively trade, then you probably needs something with a good platform, charts, and low fees.

Sharebuilder is ahhite but E*Trade is awesome. I'm not sure if they still offer it for new accounts but they waive all ATM fees on mine. It's badass. Especially in Vegas.

I'm much better at making money on saving ATM fees than on the stock market, though.

Exactly. The IPO is probably already all sold. You won't be getting into it. Some banks will have X amount of shares to sell to investors which are most likely sold as well.

I use scottrade, pretty simple and easy to use. I don't know if its the best place if you want to be active in the stock market constantly, but it's done the job in monitoring and keeping track of all the stocks im invested in.

I like fidelity - dont get a broker or anything though, do it yourself and make sure you understand what your investing in and why
