In a world where it’s easier to get a hold of your mortgage broker via Twitter instead of on the phone (Thanks @@@ADHUSTLER) one has to ask, is this the end of human civilization as we know it? What happened to human interaction? Will it now only be emails, Facebook messages and tweets? I miss a good solid hand shake or I’ll even settle for a phone call. But doing business with a faceless and voiceless person makes me feel inhuman. We are erasing the human factor of our species and turning into robots.I'm as guilty as anybody else but what can we do about it?

My Monday rant…

I agree. We're all so damned connected now that we barely connect.

We're like gerbils running around managing all our electronic means of communication, which at best is a mere simulation of human contact, yet we don't have time for just hanging out, being one on one, that kind of thing anymore.

I think it's contributing to kids being less empathetic - they view other humans as machines instead of living, breathing beings. Social skills are definitely declining in our culture and in kids nowadays. Sad stuff

I'm glad I'm a musician because in my world we make hanging out, talking, shooting the shit about life a priority - and for many people it's a rarity.

I don't check emails, use facebok or twitter but chillin' with my homies at their house, LOL.

The Humans Are Dead

The first thing that came to my mind when reading the title was this:

I don't know why people think all this is a bad thing. The interwebs will be as close as we humans get to telepathy.

Think about it speech is just a tool we invented to foster communication. The internet is also a tool to help take communication to a whole new level.

Here what I picture the future... it's Halloween and I still haven't got a costume. I decide to be an ape and send that message out. It get syndicated across all my social networks. Instantaneously I get matched with a guy who is selling his ape costume right down the street from me at a price I am willing to pay.

To be human is to communicate, lets not fight it because we miss the 'ol handshake. That is like people fighting the phone when it first arrived. There will always be a time and a place for all forms of communication... evolve. (My Monday Rant)

You coordinate the transaction via email, paypal the guy for the costume, track it online, it's left on the doorstep, you put on the costume and sit at your computer. a great halloween is had by all in #cakes. you win best costume.
