What's the point of marriage?

...I can't believe I am about to respond to this thread.

If you feel that the only thing to marriage is sex or domestic work please don't get married, your marriage will fail.

I realize this is ego protection but instead of assuming / thinking that women are crazy maybe you should treat them like human beings and then something amazing will happen. They will start acting like human beings.

This applies to people in general.

If someone started treating you like an idiot, a person to clean and fuck how long would you tolerate it for?

Everyone craves to be accepted and loved. If you consider someone beneath you they will tolerate it for a limited time. Even if you don't verbalize it your attitude will.

All inter-gender issues stem from misunderstanding of Male/Female principle. In that way marriage can be a band-aid where male continues to do only manly things while woman keeps doing womanly stuff. Neither evolves. However, there is an opportunity in marriage. It is for both partners to grow and to learn the opposite qualities from each other that are missing in us. The opportunity is for both to become more complete and more independent beings who are beyond the limitations of MALE-FEMALE. Think detachment+compassion in one.

You don't want to be just Yin or just Yang, rather we want to become an ever-flowing all-ecnompassing completeness of Yin and Yang, i.e. a flexible human being who knows which qualities to use in which situation. You will know when to scream at someone and when to apply motherly warmth and love. Then married ppl won't cause irritation in you, detached monks won't cause irritation in you, attached family ppl won't cause irritation in you, attached super-puper alpha pickup artists won't cause irritation in you.
 
To have somebody you can always trust, and to have somebody that you know will always be around you.

j/k, You are right, all in all its pretty simple. Just need to date for quite a bit and get to know the partner, go through hell and back to make sure that you can withstand it through hard times before jumping in. It is pretty hard to find a good long term match and damn, it's sucks to be left alone when you need some help from the person you trust the most, the moment something bad happens to you, such as health issue or financial stress. However, also keep in mind that psychological disorders do happen throughout life. While doing some reading it appears that men go through about 3 in general - youth, midlife, past golden years. To say that women are the same is an illusion, taken events like period, pregnancy and menopause into consideration.

Ideally, marriage should provide a solution to a need, like a desire for progeny. Or if you're a woman without marketable skills, getting hitched might give you financial security.

Most guys seem to get married for hormonal reasons. Testosterone, dopamine, and serotonin (okay, that's actually a neurotransmitter). That sucks because chemical levels in the brain rise and fall, which makes them unreliable. How many times have you felt love for a girl after sex? Did you feel the same way after a week without sex?

Our brains are sabotaging us! I'm half-joking.

Marriage USED to have a very reasonable purpose. Inheritance. Children of married women inherit the wealth of his husband. That's it. That's the whole purpose. The deal is the girl fuck no body else but you. So when she gets knocked up you know it's yours, your money go to you. If she fucks around she's dead.

That's it. Can you fuck another women? Not a problem. Women don't have problems knowing who their children are. Polygamy is legal in the bible. Can you have sex outside marriage? Again, never prohibited. Abraham have concubines. The thing is, sons of concubines don't usually get inheritance.

There is paternity tests. You want a heir. Fuck anyone, test it. Period.

So why get married again?

I think the most stupid people is those who are getting married due to religious reason. Adultery is sin. Remarriage after adultery is sin. The #1 cause of those 2 sins are monogamous marriage.

Men wanting another girl have strong incentive to divorce the old one due to monogamy.

So why monogamous marriage? Why everyone else encourage you to be married in a monogamous marriage?

Whoever made marital laws do not care about your happiness. They are your competitors. They care you go extinct. They care you don't get girls. They care that if you're rich and many girls want you, then you're bankcrupt. That's the point of marriage. To bankcrupt rich smart males that attract too many women.
 
To spawn offspring, have some company around the house and hopefully someone invested/interested enough to bail you out of jail or drive you to a hospital when the going gets bad.

Think about it. We think government has big incentives to ensure that your money goes to your child?

With welfare, redistribution of wealth, and everything else. Actually, if anything, governments want your money go to welfare parasites.

If you worked hard all your life and have the money go to everyone else' child then it's good for everyone else right?

Well, that everyone else vote for marriage laws.

When you're married, you let your competitors, that want you childless and death, to govern your relationship.

How to make a relationship fail? Embrace anti meritocratic measure. Reward, instead of punish cheating women.

If marriage laws are like that, who would get married then? Losers will. But then again, the poor, the lazy, are the one voting for marriage laws.

It's all make perfect sense if we understand how democracy works.

Why welfare? That discourage people from being productive. It's not fair. Yea it's not. But hei, that unproductive people is the one voting. Of course they vote for it.

Sex is a strange commodity. Pay a fair price for it and everybody screams it's illegal. Cheat your way, lie, and stuff. And it's legal. People would call you a stud if you can lie to women so she sleep with you.

It's not close to reasonable at all but that is their actual reason - to "preserve the peace". As if having a mixed race baby when both you and your wife are white is going to preserve any peace in the family. I bet you'd see protests if you said that motherhood was determined by society and not biology.

Oh and even better, paternity tests are not only illegal but if you're French and you're caught with a paternity test you can be FINED.

If someone murder your brother, juries must agree beyond reasonable doubt that the murder happens before you are sent to jail.

With paternity tests, something that can be verified with 100% certainty, the procedure is deliberately very vague. You are sent a notice. If you don't receive it in anyway, that's it, you're the father and has to pay child support for 18 years.

If I live 50 years ago, marriage isn't a bad idea. Happiness is making a lot of money and inherit that to your biological children. How do you know which kid is yours? Marriage. Simple.

Now, if you want to inherit stuff to your biological children, don't get married. Either sign a contract saying you will be responsible for the children, or let government find out that you are the father and well, just pay up but only if the child is really yours.

As for liberal psychologists. They told you that watching porn and playing video games are bad for children. Guess what? Those 2 taught us about life far more than shit in schools right?
