You know, most of this shit really is self fulfilling prophecy.
Stock market "gurus' suddenly say everything's cashing, and you better sell up now. So people sell up. So prices crash... It's like the opposite of Pump'n'Dump, except if you've got a radio or TV show, you can make some serious money by buying up the shit you just told people to sell... And amazingly, you make a fortune on the stock markets.
And frnakly, I don't think the economy crashing is going to lead to barbarism. People did well enough in the '20s without resorting to slitting each others throats for a loaf of bread.
This shit seriously make me wonder why, if you're so damned concerned, you don't cash up into another currency and move somewhere where the economy is a bit more stable and balanced.
Honestly, the US' own rhetoric of being "the greatest country in the world" has blinded a lot of people to some seriously good alternatives.
And let's face it, pride is doesn't put food in your mouth.
Y'know all those insanely rich family dynasties? Most of them made their money in the Depression of the 1920s. The thing about money is that it's always somewhere, it doesn't just magically disappear.

If the economy crashes..what you have saved and owned means shit. I own 750 acres of land that I at one time thought would keep me safe in a meltdown. Then I realized that if it got really bad the government would probably tax it away from me anyways.
Cash, gold, silver all of it would be worth nothing. Liberals will call us crazy but that is because they live in a wonderland of government handouts and entitlements. Liberals need to realize that you can only print money for so long before you fuck it all up.
I mention having a weapon because of Catrina. Those that didnt have weapons were in fear of the criminals that did. When the shit hits the fan the liberals will be the ones that are taken advantage of by the criminals. I and others like me will be the ones that not only protect our families but we will be the ones dealing out justice.
If you want a look at what the future of our country and economy is going to look like, read Ayn Rand's Atlas Shrugged. Granted it is book, and has over 1000 pages. But that fictional novel is about to play out in the US. Socialism will neither solve nor cure the state of the economy. Rewarding people who fail and taxing or regulating companies/businesses that are successful (why should they be so lucky!) so that you eventually put them out of business is no way get us out of this hole.

when a populace loses faith in its currency they look for "real" stores of value and that's where precious metals always come in historically.
during argentina's currency collapse a few years ago there are tons of accounts of people resorting to gold jewelery and rings as a means of exchange for groceries and needed supplies

Poor economies are an opportunity to make more money. Like I said, the last few weeks have been my best in affiliate marketing, and my company is growing, not shrinking. We can now hire unemployed programmers for half of what we could two years ago, so for us it's an opportunity. Think outside the box or STFU and drown.
