Halfway through a sci-fi film named "Sunshine" right now.. last thing I watched before that was "Life in the Undergrowth - BBC Documentary (documentary about insects, with high speed camera's/super close ups and great descriptions" one of the most amazing things I watched along with "Planet Earth".

Sunshine is very good (until the last 15 minute)..the script is crappy and full of hole..but the graphic and sound effect is awesome..

If you have a bluray player, you have to buy planet earth..it is just stunning. I almost cry when i saw the baby polar bear came out from the cave

I know this isn't a favorite movie thread, but if any of you haven't seen "The City of God" go out and rent that shit.

It's one of the best movies I've ever seen (and I see a lot). I'll warn you it has subtitles, so if you don't like to read more than the tag line for the porn clips you surf on the net then you might get annoyed. On the other hand, it's a wild ride to a part of the world none of us know and you might get swept away in that.

I give it a 10/10

Watched The Family Stone (2005) late last night while battling a bout of insomnia. It just happened to be what was on when I flipped the TV on. Not sure if it was good or bad. The situations were trite and contrived. The idea that the sister, played by Claire Danes would have any interest in a guy who is dating her sister and who she just met was extremely weak. I suppose they were trying to convey a lot of the interaction non-verbally, but the acting was weak and it fell through.

But I found myself watching it through to the end. So I guess it wasn't all that bad.

I liked There Will Be Blood (2007) a lot.

"City Of God" was mentioned above a couple of times. I definitely recommend that film. I was blown away by how good that movie looked with such a limited budget.

Some of the best films are coming out of countries that the broad movie-going public hasn't been exposed to. That limited perspective is changing, thank goodness. But, I still grind my teeth whenever a purely commercial vehicle is pushed (for example, "Pirates Of The Caribbean").

"V For Vendetta" was GREAT. Thanks for the reminder, LazyHippy. I'm adding it to my NetFlix queue for another go.

I also loved "There Will Be Blood." I'm a big fan of Paul Thomas Anderson's films ("Boogie Night," "Punch-Drunk Love," "Magnolia," etc.).

By the way, has anyone seen "Magnolia"? It's one of my favorite movies.

I saw "Doubt" last night. Great film with Meryl Streep, Philip Seymour Hoffman, and Amy Adams. Streep and Hoffman are always good, of course; you'd expect them to turn in awesome performances in every film. But, Adams has become a surprise. Between her turns in "Junebug" and "Doubt," she shows a huge range in ability.

On a side note, those folks who talk incessantly during films should be ashamed. What a display of pure selfishness.

There Will Be Blood.

Even though Daniel Day Lewis is the man and his performance was good, I'm thinking the Upton Sinclair novel is better.

The last movie I watched was: The Wiggles: You Make Me Feel Like Dancing. Before that it was Mickey Saves Santa. Before that was Christmas Vacation while I assembled little red wagons and Big Wheels. :)
