They are just different domain extensions, you can pick whichever you'd like or whichever suits your type of website best. There is no difference in their SEO/indexing on google.

The key differences you should look at are whether it's important for you to get "type-in" traffic. ie. people remembering and typing in your URL, because if it is .com is the obvious choice.

And lastly you should look at price of course. .com being the most expensive and .info, .asia and the less "official" ones are the cheapest.

.com tend to show up first and supposedly get ranked higher, but honestly it's not a make or break thing imo.

.com is by far the best for a variety of reasons. Finding the domain you want, and being able to register it is a different story.

Intended use was

.com -Commercial websites
.org - Non-profit orginally now used for anything
.info - Released later, cheaper alternative to .com

I think users will be far more likely to click on a .com-site in Google, because it is seen as more legitimate. Lots of spammers use .net and .info- etc.

If the .com you're looking for isn't available, and you're outside the USA, you can also try the country's own local extension, like .com.au for Australia and .co.uk (yes, .co, not .com) for the UK.

It won't get the entire world going to your site, but it does seem substantially more legitimate if you're goingto use a locally available offer

.com - commercial sites
.org - organizations, usually non-profit
.info - personal websites

As for a cheap hosting. There are very good packages for as little as US$1/month. Try del.icio.us to see what are people recommending.
