FFS Jon, you're better than this. At least make an effort to provide some new, high quality content for free before turning on the paid section. It's basic shit: you whet the appetite of readers with some good quality posts, get them excited, and then in the last peice of free content you invite them to the premium section. Think CCarter quality posts, but with a buy button at the end. It would have been an easy sell, tons of people here have been longterm members and love this place. Instead you've pissed everyone off by turning up out of the blue and saying things are going paid, and then actually making no changes at all before turning on the paywall. I mean, what the fuck did you expect would happen? And to make matters worse, you managed to piss off what few moderators and old timers you had left by accusing them of leaving, while you yourself had been the most notable absentee.

jons forum went paid. i paid membership. he connected me with the guy at NSA who is now my supply chain for selling a lot of surveillance equipment.

Cost: 47 or whatever the membership fee is.
Profit: $319,000 contract for motion/voice activated dildo spy cams.

I'm not sure what the NSA guy wants them for, but I've been told it's a need to know basis.

PS - Since I'm membership member, I don't have to talk/read your lowly serf posts, but I read a few of the ones above this. Gaiz, just PM Jon for contact in the niche industry you're in after you pay your membership fee, and you're set. He said he wasn't going to do everything - gotta take the initiative.

Ok, so I'm assuming the "Committed to Success Member" badge is given out to paid members.

Therefore, Vadym is the only paid member that I've seen, and likely the only one that exists.

Hence the question is:

Do I pay $46 to hang out with Vadym on a private forum? Hmm ... tough call ...

Yes. I don't think there's a private forum though - I can't even view the "daily hustle" or whatever section.

It's not about me though - I felt like supporting Jon in his endeavors. If you don't want to donate - do not, if you do want to donate - do. Some fund shitty Kickstarter moneygrabs you guys call "innovative products", I do this.

This is why you fucking clowns will never amount to anything.

Cliffs:

- It costs 46 bucks. If youre anything like your reputation suggests, they wont even amount to a rounding error.

- Its a business expense.

- If a smidgen of a niglet of what jon promised actually happens, the value will be about 100x the price.

Instead you piss away hours bitching. Sounds reasonable <3

STS has always been the part of the forum where members hung out, joked around and tore each apart. In a word, relationships (even if dysfunctional). Unless the vast majority of active members ponied up the $46 fee* and are now hanging out, joking around and tearing each other apart behind the pay wall, they'll be back after the dust settles.

I'm not so sure, I resent having to pay ($1, $43 or $1000) for access to a section I contributed quite a bit of time, knowledge and experience to, on the implicit understanding it would remain free for all. Of course it's well within Jon's rights to do what he's doing, but it's not a move which helps build a community.

I check-in to STS to see what's happening every now and then, but that was never enough on its own to keep me coming back.

You just have to look at the "last post" dates on the forums that are now paid only to see where things are headed.

A new, paid-only section would be fine, I could see the logic in that. Walling up all the content that many established members have contributed to this place (many for over a decade... hundreds of hours of thinking & writing)... well.

I'm watching the same thing happen in my suburb, a thriving yuppy neighbourhood full of cafe's and local businesses all in a single street. The council has just installed parking meters after just about everyone opposed it, the area is deserted now... it's an expensive suburb too, the median price for a house here is about AUD$700,000 so it's not about the money. The interesting thing is that trade has decreased even outside the hours of the parking meters. Not to mention all the meters have been vandalised twice (someone filled all 15 of them with liquid nails) within a space of 2 weeks.
 
I was going to pay anyway, just to read the Enlightened Members section again, and probably still will.

I'm still waiting to see what the more experienced guys on here are going to do. I can only assume people are waiting to see some of these changes made for the premium membership.
