Web Developer Specialist

Do certifications on those aspects. Look up various certifications based on website devleoping..research and talk to instructors of the providers on what you need and want to do with the skills. They will put you in the right place and give you good advice on what certs are the best to take. Do it even if you dont want to get a certification. If you want to self learn you can try codeacademy or just register for specific part time courses in colleges or online courses.
I dunno how good those are. I have most of the ones through CIW from school and they were really basic. Nothing about design patterns, prototypal inheritance, etc. They taught you the basics but not how to develop apps.

The most useful stuff I had to get was a db specialist cert which was mostly just beating db normalization into your head.

I had to get all the Comptia certs as well, A+, Network+, Security+, etc and the microsoft 70-680. The comptia ones were worth more than CIW, and MS is a niggers mom when it comes to designing tests. (Multiple multiple choice, choose 3 of the following options A-M)

They are better than nothing, at least you can show someone you have a base level of knowledge, but people won't be rushing to hire you just for them.
