I'm looking to download a really good piece of usenet engine software. The one I've been seeing around lately is usenext.com. Their subscription rates are okay, nothing to brag about compared to the uber cheap ones I've seen around too. Are any of you usenet users, and can you recommend a good service that has software similar to the usenext service perhaps?

I have Usenext and I'm pretty satisfied. I can always hit my max speed and they say you can't use the traffic after the month ends (example, you buy 10 gigabytes to use in 30 days) but I always can, so I just pay for what I download.

The Usenext client is pretty heavy (memory leaks) but works and is very simple, they have a download wizard feature that making downloading and repairing big files very easy.

Plus, they accept PayPal. I recommend giving it a try!

usenet is the shiznit .. i use newzbin for listings, usenetserver.com and newsbin5 as the software to download

NewsHosting -Usenet server. $14.95 a month Unlimeted
newzBin - Usenet indexing site. 50 cents a week
NewsLeecher - Download

this is what I've been using for over 2 years and it works great.

I just started to use usenext and I like it a lot already. Very very fast speeds and they have just about everything I could ask for.

I highly recommend easynews.com -- I've been using them for years. I haven't done any recent comparisons, but last time I checked the other guys didn't have some of the time savers that they had. What I love about them is that I always max out my download bandwidth (they are never the bottleneck) and they have an awesome global search with nearly infinite advanced search options. They even autounrar several file types for you (videos, ISOs, etc),have built in web-based parity checker, and a really easy zip queue system to queue up your files and download them zipped (ie you select all the songs in an album and send them to queue1, then goto queue manager and there's a zip file waiting for you). See image for example of search (sorry for the large pic):
