UK to block porn at ISP level?

Actually, unlike a lot of the US, we have castle law here (to a reasonable extent, it doesn't include stuff like shooting at them while they're running away)
Shotgun licenses are fairly easy to get, too.
Shouldn't there be a reasonable expectation of not bombarding children with porn unexpectedly? It reaches out and grabs eyes in places it should not be.
Have any of you ever dealt with suicides and those bordering on suicide that are all screwed up in how they view themselves?

I agree it is the parents job to explain it. But when it is everywhere bombarding children constantly it borders on criminal.
You wouldn't advocate a pedophile reaching out to children would you? Porn is a gateway. You children have no idea the world you are advocating and there is rarely maturity on this board that can even begin to understand the ways in which porn creates problems in society and relationships.
I am not saying you cannot have your porn. You can jack off to mentally screwed up girls and women, watch people destroy their lives and contribute to the exploitation of others if you want to. But do not fool yourself into thinking it is innocent or victimless. You think that chick taking that on some tube site is better off? You think that chick taking pictures or having her boyfriend film her only to post it on the net at some point is "OK". You have a lot to learn about women.
This has nothing to do with free speech (or communism you dumb ass). It is about protecting children until they are mature enough to understand the dynamics.

I think that our first amendment rights should not be tinkered with.
I do understand the effects that porn has on society and relationships and that it subconsciously creates false standards and leads to unhappiness when those expectations are not met and leaves people feeling sensually unfulfilled in relationships.

Sooo the solution is to block it at a national level, instead of teaching our kids right and wrong??? You need to understand, porn was around before the internet. 1. There is no 'first amendment' in the UK, so frig off with that stuff.
2. The same thing went down in Australia, and it was nowhere near being passed into legislation.

I would be far less opposed to the top handful of private search engines saying hmm maybe you should verify before turning off the adult filter. My dick does stand up on occasion when searching google images for innocent terms.
But uhh... pretty sure sexualized and consumerized TV/magazines and female role models are more harmful to "women" and "relationships", than pron.

I guess the point I was trying to make is 1 of those is on daily in every household in America (influencing women), while the other is only on for those who want it (influencing boys and men).

Just because you had it at 8 does not mean every 8 year old should have it. If you bring it to school and show it to other children, well your parents should be held responsible.
Magazines and TV is certainly a problem also. That's why they used to put wrappers on them.
The internet has been the wild west because no one understood the affect this technology would have. Now some things need to be reigned in. Porn needs to be controlled.

A ban is not on the table. Just needs to be reigned in to protect those that cannot understand it.
