tangem2 - lmao - are you really saying that 150k a month or 1.8 million a year is not rich? that does put you in the top 1 to 3% of wage earners in this country. Do that for a few years and why work? go play golf!

Tyler is making most of his money from just two or three sites and he is still relatively young as well. Sure, he isnt a millionaire yet but to make it seem like he is a poor at 23...

making 1.8 million a year, which would be closer to a million a year after taxes would take you 1000 years to make it on to the forbes 400 list if all other things stayed the same. Now to me someone who is rich has at least 100 million in assets so by that standard it would take 100 years to earn if all things remained constant. I didnt say it wouldnt be a very comfortable living pulling down a million a year and managed properly could provide a nice income after a few years but not rich or to quote Gordon Gecko "I'm not talking a $400,000 a year working Wall Street stiff flying first class and being ‘comfortable’, I'm talking rich pal, rich enough to buy your own jet, rich enough not to waste time, 50-100 million, a player Bud -- or nothing." That is rich...

I have to question the judgement of someone who thinks posting on other webmaster related forums is a bad idea because it is competition.

Can't say I have ever heard of Tyler Durdin or Publishers Forum before this thread... so I think you need to work harder on promoting yourself if that is your goal.

Never did get a resonse on the net or revenue number, my suspicion is the number is total revenue, which is okay, but nothing special at all. As a business you have expenses.

That isn't exactly what I said. I said I'd rather contribute my time and posts towards my own forum. I also mentioned how I do post on other webmaster forums, though, for backlinks and to get my signature out there.

I don't actively promote myself, so maybe that's why :)

It is gross, but is not too far off of net. If you say $90,000 a year gross, put maybe $80,000 as net... $75,000 tops...

Anyhow, I'm not saying I'm rich or anything close to that. The only reason I state my earnings on my blog is because

1. It's a tradition. About 2 years ago I was making like $40 a day. Over time, that has gradually increased to what it is now. Slow and steady. I got a bit of attention over at Sitepoint for a thread I had made stating I was going to take the risk and move out from my parents, and try to make a living doing this internet thing. Long-time followers of my blog will have seen my earnings slowly rise over time.

2. It helps motivate me. I set goals mainly by monetary increases, and so this is a great way to help motivate me. By making it public, it gives me more of a 'push', as I face public humilation (in a sense) if my earnings drop... and I like to prove people wrong.

i only have 1 thing to say tyler ....

I see all this potential, and I see squandering. God damn it, an entire generation pumping gas, waiting tables; slaves with white collars. Advertising has us chasing cars and clothes, working jobs we hate so we can buy shit we don't need. We're the middle children of history, man. No purpose or place. We have no Great War. No Great Depression. Our Great War's a spiritual war... our Great Depression is our lives. We've all been raised on television to believe that one day we'd all be millionaires, and movie gods, and rock stars. But we won't. And we're slowly learning that fact. And we're very, very pissed off.

I for one appreciate Tyler's blog/accomplishments. His is one of the few blogs I go out of my way to check every few days (such as Jon's). It's inspiring, and he's very "normal" when he posts, very real. Not the pompous and obnoxious dialect that a lot of the others have. (no, I am not referring to anyone on this site!).

Anyone making more than I make (everyone here?!), I consider a high earner! lol
