Do you know how Russians count their nukes? They count everything they have.
They still have Topol's and Iskanders, not to mention Satana - 40, 30 and 20-years-old missiles respectively. Effective service period for Soviet nukes is 10 years, then nuclear charge loses stability and should be replaced with new one, while old one serves as fuel for Russian nuclear stations. The last plutonium-processing plant in Russia was closed back in 2002, because they had no money to upgrade it. Therefore, since 2012 there are NO STRIKE-READY NUKES IN RUSSIA.
In case Putin presses the red button he will launch empty tubes. They can be filled with toxins, bacteries or mines - but not with nukes.
And just to make you laugh a bit more... Military should test their weponry regularly, right? Russians also test their nukes, by launching them to strike the practice target while evading their anti-missile-defense systems, so that both nuclear fore and nuclear defense force get a training. I know the results of these tests for the last 6 years... and they are unbelievable....
Nearly 9 of 10 missiles DON'T EVEN FLY WHERE THEY HAVE TO. 2/10 fail to start, 4/10 explode in flight and 3/10 fly IN WRONG DIRECTION. Only 1/10 is able to hit the target and is easily intercepted by their anti-nuke defense forces.
This simple statistics effectively cuts RUssian nuke force to 1 000 missiles against 9 000 the US currently fields.
And to finish - Soviet union made details for their weaponry all over the union. Tank hulls and engines were made in Kharkiv, turrets and barrels at Yekaterinburg, missile hulls at Dnepropetrovsk, missile control units in Kharkiv, aircraft hulls in Kiev, aircraft engines in Zaporozhye. Do you get what I say? RUSSIA RECEIVED 40-70% OF MISSILE COMPONENTS FROM UKRAINE.

Launch this May, postponed 3 times - and they lost the Progress ship with food for the astronauts and their Victory banner... Oh my fucking God, that banner was sacred for the nation and they burned it down because their space industry is in shit now...
To add some more - they tried to replace Ukrainian components with their own. Result - Angara, 100% Russian missile could not ignite for 3 times!!!! 3 times, Carl!!! And then it exploded in flight...

Russia has 10 000 missiles. 0 of them are nukes but can carry other weaponry. 9/10 will not even fly where they should with a risk of unleashing toxins and bacteria over Russian soil. The rest 1000 will be shot down with anti-nuke defense long before reaching US coasts.

Why do politicians say otherwise? Because they want you to believe that only their efforts stop Putin from pressing the red button.
As for Trump - I watched the video above - I really cannot take this clown seriously. As for election results - time will tell. I hope Americans have brains.
