True Detective



Hopefully we'll be getting more of this as well.

There was some parts of the show that was weird to me, just didnt seem to fit. Overall a good show. Everyone should binge it.
 
Season 2 premiere last night. People are freaking out that it's a completely different show, and it doesn't spell out the complete backstories of the characters right at the beginning. I think the difference from last year is people didn't start catching on to it until the 3rd or 4th episode, so they could watch those back-to-back and get a clearer picture than just from episode 1.

I thought it was pretty good. The highways and railroads are clearly a part of the story, and overall nice photography. A vox critic who prescreened the first 3 and trashed episode 1 says the next 2 are better, so I'm guessing by episode 4, something epic will happen and people will stop comparing it to season 1.

Can't say I'm disappointed, but... Absence of Matthew McConaughey is strange... it just does not feel right... somewhere deep inside. Plus, the story so far is not so intriquing as in the first season... Will wait for future episodes, because I cannot make any conclusions yet.

Well, he is an Executive Producer on the show now.

I predict about halfway through, Vince will take off the suit and go full hood on a motherfucker.

Definitely was interesting. Got my attention. Usually with any show - including this angst-ridden one - it's written in such a way where you end up relating to or rooting for the main character. In the case of season 1, it was usually for the character played by Mathew McConaughey. The nihilist, cynic, critic of the establishment, religion, society in general, etc. But with this season, so far it's like WTF lol? Definitely interesting to see what happens next.
 
It's not going to be nearly as good this season. They have some decent actors but the two mains from last season were too good together. Plus they aren't going back in the timeline like they did in the first season.
 
I was expecting Vince and Collin to be cast as partners.
Also Vince is not good choice for bad guy character. I just do not see it... He has a good guy's face.
Great episode anyway, although not in true detective (as in 1st season) spirit.

Only took about half way through the 2nd show. But I'd probably go full hood on a motherfucker too if I had $10mill and someone stole it from me.
