Sitting at the hospital with mom today. Dad is having open heart surgery. Heart is clogged up in a bad kind of way.

Just a note - most of us do alot of sitting at the computer. Important that we all remember to move around and get exercise.

Watch out how well the hospital guards against bacterial infections. All visitors should wear rubber gloves and/or use an anti-bacteral hand gel before entering. Check for an alcohol-based hand gel dispenser at the entrance. This applies including and especially to the staff. Hospitals are full of super bacteria that are becoming impossible to kill, due to overuse of antibiotics. Check online on how well the hospital measures up in the post-surgical infections statistics. My mother had successful hip replacement surgery, then an unkillable infection in the surgical area penetrated the wound and she died from complications. We later learned that the hospital had a poor record for infections. Who knew?

Best of luck sir- the best advice I can give you is to make sure you stay with him and that people take care of him properly. Last thing you need is some lazy nurse or shitty doctor. If you don't like the doctor, don't be afraid to ask for a different one. This is no time to fuck around, so make sure your old man gets the best care possible. I'm sure you already have it covered.
 
I feel for you man, been through that myself. My dad had to have bypass twice and an angioplastie once. I'm projected to go through the same deal. Hope you all make it through it well.

Cryptix, I know how you feel man, my grandpa went through the same ordeal and I've got a good chance of going through this as well.

My thoughts go out to your dad in this all going over as smoothly as possible.

Dad is out and he looks like a train wreck but nurses say that he is gonna be ok. Surgeon cut him from neck to belly - not a pretty picture.

Smoking is a leading cause of plaque build up in your heart and of course a high fat diet doesnt help either.

Anybody got a link for an e-cig offer (LOLZ) kidding...
