Most trademark lawyers are old as shit and don't know anything about the internet. You can pretty much get away with anything you want concerning domains as long as you don't own trademark.com, or trademark.net
i second that, one idiot lawyer filed a $1 m lawsuit against some crappy shit i posted from other blog. We both bloggers got sued but later they lost the fucking lawsuit against the other guy and had to pay over $50K to him lol , after that it seems they gave up on me lol
I got a c&d from a company once for having the product in the domain and had to yield the domain to them. But this company's American division was advertising online bigtime, including Youtube spam, so they were bound to notice I guess.
If it's anything that's at all lucrative for you, talk to a lawyer and do some research before you hand it over just because they sent an email that looks corporate.
I've gotten endless copyright infringement C+D's, especially when I was doing my SEO biz. Most ignored, some serious. Some companies make it their mission to protect their brand so running safe is much smarter.
Ive had some problems with a couple agencies, such as the owners of the trade mark 'REALTOR' and various other real estate designations. They were very protective of their brand.
Just watch out and don't cause trouble if they ask to take it down.
Often times they talk about "likeness" in rulings and that's where you can get burned. That basically means if you're close to being the same. Like faceboook.com or something. Depends on where you live etc.
