The story behind your nickname/handle...

I've been brainstorming a new nickname/handle and I keep drawing a blank...I look around WF and various blogs and I see a lot of creative nicknames, so I wanted to ask - what's the story behind your nickname?

I've never blogged much, so what little I have done has been under my own name. So, when I signed up for WF, I used a name I've used for years in gaming - Mereo. I needed a new handle for gaming years ago and couldn't think of anything that hadn't already been taken, so I started browsing a Latin dictionary. Mereo is latin and has a number of different meanings, including deserve or merit, gain, obtain and serve as a soldier. Since I was looking for something for a wargame, I figured that last definition fit, I registered for that game as 'Mereo' and I've been using it ever since.

I'm not particularly attached to the name and I've been trying to come up with a decent new name to use, but I'm hitting a complete and total mental and creative block!

Hah, I am fully aware that the name "chatmasta" is gay as hell. Originally (as in 4th grade), my AIM was "mjrpbplayer" - my initials + pb (paintball) + player. So the first forum I ever joined, which was RuneVillage .::. Where RuneScapers Escape if you're interested, I tried joining under the name mjrpbplayer. But I put in a BS email address just because that was my habit. Then I couldn't get the email confirmation link, so I had to think of a new name on the spot. And I chose "chatmasta." Fuuuuuuck.

I have a few other nicks I use but I use them to be anonymous. But they are cooler than chatmasta.

Amanda = A (former) jail bait I know in real life.
11 = because Amanda was already taken.

You still play?

haven't for about a year...that was some fun shit though. I was never a real serious player or anything, just did it for fun. Some of my friends were always bragging about that "semi-pro" BS where some idiot company sponsors you and pays for all your paint

Same here. When it cools off again, I definitely want to start playing again. Way too fucking hot in FL right now to be crawling through the woods with long sleeve camo and a mask. Lots of fun though.

alright, i got this name in high school, i was on varsity for the swim team, and because back then i was about 6'2" and 220 lbs i was a big guy. And for every swim meet the cheerleader would make custom posters for all the varsity swimmers and post them around school then post them at the meets. Well they gave me the name, The Big Sexy.

It was fucking awesome walking around school have damn near every cheerleader and hot chick call you "The Big Sexy" but it was sort of fucking creepy when a guy would do it. So i told the guys just to call me "Fat Tom" because it sounded a hell of a lot less gay then yelling "GO BIG SEXY, GO" and thats how i got this name.

my nickname is really lame. i stick to it out of habit.

it got it when my buddy showed me how irc works, many, many years ago. he typed in guysmy for my username because it was the first thing that popped into his head. i've been using it ever since.

A half hour of typing random names in EverQuest for my Warrior, I came up with Zimok. It has no meaning, it's just simply perfect(to me).

From Urban Dictionary:

San Pedro

A small community within Los Angeles, this town is known for its pride and its ethnicity. Locals pronounce it "Pidro" instead of "Pedro." People are not ashamed to admit Pedro is a blue-collar town. Its roots run deep in the longshoring and fishing industry. Most people in Pedro come from one of three ethnicities: Italian, Croatian, or Hispanic, and all three are just as equally proud of their heritage. San Pedro is home to the largest Italian-American community in Southern California. Most Italian residents are from Ischia or Sicily. On any given day you can find many locals sporting t-shirts, hats, or even car decals representing some sort of San Pedro establishment or just Pedro itself. Many restaurants are local "haunts" that even people from other towns come to eat at...such as "Busy Bee" (best sandwiches in town). This just scratched the surface of this wonderful "Whale of a town."

been using this name since 1998-1999 when I was in 6th grade, felt no need to change. my name is John, and it sounded cool at the time. 56 means nothing really
