I think his charisma and pitch are solid but does anyone else think the real gem here is that there is something so fucking engaging about watching vegetables get peeled? It feels almost satisfying?
Reminds a lot of those drawing videos that everyone is using to pitch their ebooks.
I think a lot of what is happening there is that he's able to do a somewhat complex activity, while also explaining it and seeming engaging at the same time. It makes it seem like the tool makes the activity easy.
With the whiteboard videos, it turns it into somewhat of a mind-fuck.
Think about everything Billy Mays ever did...
I think the other part of the trick there is constant one-way engagement. It needs to be charismatic enough to keep people from asking questions. I hadn't thought about it much before, but those things would explain the effectiveness of the whiteboard videos.
