The end of non-WMT organic keyword data

Is there any reason to use G's analytics over say clicky or whatnot.

Depends on if you need it for your own sites or for clients. Hate Google all you want but shit like Clicky isn't even in the same league as Analytics. If all you're tracking is visits then you might as well use Statcounter, but if you plan on digging deep into your data nothing else comes close that I have seen. Fuck they even have cohort analysis now.

Google is now trying to be a hardass landlord. We created the monster and now it's trying to devour us all.

Their quest for more power is mind numbing. When you have no data, most will be flying blind and that's how Google wants it. The tools that scrape the info are next in-line.

Hope Bing will wake up and just smell the opportunity calling. Monopolies are never satisfied, and this is just a taste of what's yet to come.

how is this even news?

did anyone really think that Google was going to change their minds and go back to giving out keyword data?

anyone not living under a rock knew this day would come, and predicted it.

Well, quite a few people are saying that "the market" is going to break google sooner or later. I don't know why this is more than wishful thinking, really. If people get forced to run test campaigns on adwords, how the hell is this going to help break googles monopoly? It will FEED google and make them stronger and stronger. They are already so resourceful, it's scary. Google is slowly but surely turning into the worlds first AI powered by billions of $$ and the best engineers in the world.

How on earth is a crumbling software company which is really in the process in dying a slow death going to help? At least they brought back the "start" button in Windows 8, so there is at least a bit of hope...
