I'm new to the affiliate world and I have a few questions. Most people here seem to work with simple landing pages. I assume these are the reasons why people use them:
- The ability to track your visitors
- Trying to enter the visitors mind and switching the 'buying mode' button on
- The ability to hide affiliate links
- Necessary for getting SE traffic (but it doesn't really matter for PPC)
Am I correct? Or are there more reasons?

Also, does it matter what the domain/url is when you are using PPC?

Another question... Is it wise to use a random domain you own to host landing page (when only using AdWords and adCenter)?

if your going to do it then do it right.....com revelant keyword website will work the best....if they land on screwyourmom.com and it for senior travel tours then that wil not work.......unless it is revelant

whay people use landing pages beacue consumers are used to fancy ads and being sold.......its subliminally ingrained in their minds even though they dont admit it.................................

landing page or a blog with content about your product works fine...just make sure that you grab them and almost force them to click on the offer without them knowing they are being lead to a sale.............

selling affiliate offers is all about secret subliminal and understanding the human mind and what makes it tick.................study that shit and you'll kill it:bowdown:

Here is an example why landing pages are good........your promoting penis enlargement. The visitor clicks you from the se's and lands on your page, there he reads 3-4 sentances about penis enlargement, and gets the option to choose from: penis exercises, penis pills, or a penis extender.....Its good to give the customer options, but not too many. The customer can then research each, or just click on 1 and buy. They like a 2nd opinion as opposed to just being redirected to the merchant. Even though our opinion is paid :D

I use them so I can use google adwords ^_^

also so I can track my stats better.

Also, specific targeting. For example, if you are advertising a dating program, landing on the home page is a general "safe" option. However, if you are driving traffic, with some programs, you can select what race, age, gender, orientation, etc is displayed in a landing page. The landing page for MySpace content providers should be geared toward 60% men/40% women with a younger age range then sites that would attract Asian older men. The more specific, the more likely you are to convert to sales/clicks.
