Thai 1 Year Non-Immigrant Visa

Thanks Wickedice and Qualo. And yea, I get it... there's a lot of desperate hookers and dudes dressing like chicks. However, I'm primarily interested in the food, culture, history, and traveling the Mekong River in search of elusive animals and heroin.

Also, I think I'm more interested in Chiang Mai than BKK. I haven't been to either, so I can't say for sure, but CM seems to be less hustle and a little more manageable. Ideally I just want to have a temporary base in Thailand so I can easily travel to neighboring countries.

Hey Qualo, what's your skype name?

Careful - Thais don't like whiteys who are trying to stick their noses into their jungle heroin business. They're not going to give a warning - you'll just disappear along with anyone with you on the boat at the time.

To those of you living in Thailand..

Recently I've been researching how to become eligible for the one year non-immigrant visa as an American. I found a good amount of information online but a lot of it is contradicting. I'm curious if there's anyone out there WITH EXPERIENCE obtaining this (or a similar) visa that could provide insight.

I'm not necessarily interested in living there for years and years, but I'd like to have the option of staying for more than 60 or 90 days (or whatever the current tourist visa allows). Feedback from anyone with experience would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

There are a few options.

  1. Marry a thai and apply for NON O visa
  2. Get A student visa and get NON B Visa
  3. Get a job and you can get NON B Visa
  4. Get multiple entry tourist visa

With Non Immigrant visas so do still have to report at immigrations once every 90 days, with tourist visas so might they check your language skills after a few extensions that you do each 90 days.

The tourist visas are the lest hassle to get and pracitcally impossible to be denied ,after you extended it for 30 more days so do I take a plain trip to Cambodia and hang around the airport for 2-3 hours then fly back.

You might need to check out Thai Elite Visa .

This is really preferred if you can pony up the cash last time I checked so was it going for 500 000 baht I think.

Why do so many Im'ers chose Thailand over other countries?

I thought we were supposed to make a lot of money and move to Monaco, am I doing it wrong?

Well there are two groups of IM guys in Thailand the digital nomad guys "think of them as the WaFo crowd" then there are quite alot of affiliate marketer guys in Bangkok. The expat community in general is quite big in Bangkok. The normal regular crowd here is way bigger then the traditional farang that hangs out with whores all day long.

Bangkok has become really developed the last 5-10 years, probably have some of the most impressive shopping malls in the world and the cinemas are completely sick.

Most things that you would want from the western world is here, the higher end food scene is really good as well. Plenty of good western restaurants.

I have been to Bangkok many many times, I cannot talk about other cities in Thailand, but BKK is really a nice city.

- You can't really mix with the locals, they aren't your friends
- Too many white trashs with local trashs (x equals to x, everywhere)
- edit: too many gays... i am really homophobic

You def can mix with locals, I have Thai friends in all social classes. Poor on the country side and rich and famous in the big city, you have to get of the beaten path of hanging out in seedy clubs where the girls are either trying get marry a rich white guy or shes just a whore who wants to work.

Go where normal thai people socializes

The gay thing is quite annoying. I decided to be greenman last Halloween and got a few fags that cup a feel.

Also all normal people hate the trashy white people since they give us just as bad rep as the whores do to thai women
