Syrian Rebels Kill Postmen, Why Are We Backing Them?

Hate those Allahu Akhbar fuckers. Media is so manipulated. We're rooting for Taleban all over again.

What isn't being shown in in the US media is that minority muslims and christians are being killed and their places of worship ransacked by the FSA, which is mainly infiltrated by Al Qaeda and other wahhabist terror groups with external fighters. The US just wants to take out the Syrian regime because they are Iran's only supporter in the region (something the US, Saudi Arabia, Israel and Al Qaeda don't want). Once Syria falls it makes a war with Iran very easy.

Reminds me of the mid 90's when the US was supporting Al Qaeda in Bosnia.

decades of invasions, millions of innocents killed....and you find this disturbing?. We could make an endless thread listing how the US gave weapons anf finance to terrorist groups and countries just to later "find out" how bad they were.

That's the role of an empire I guess.

Wait, wuh?

You've got a civil war going on because basically Bashar al-Assad is huge genocidal asshole and the rebels are formally getting no assistance from the west, and you are surprised that they are taking weapons from any sleazeballs who are offering?

And oh wait, the U.S. is to blame for the mess?

Love the black-and-white assertions being made on this thread. How about the theory that in a dirty civil war, there are no good decisions, just fifty shades of black, with every decision leading to the death of innocents.

Just like it was with Saddam. And Gaddafi. And Hitler.

Pakistan backs Syrian govt, opposes foreign intervention | DAWN.COM
Pakistan's Foreign Minister said:
"It is our considered view that any outside intervention would further complicate an already very complex situation. It must be avoided,” Ms Khar said at the conference attended by about 25 countries, most of whom were represented at ambassadorial level.

She urged the international community to respect Syria’s sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity.

Besides Pakistan, representatives from Russia, China, Belarus, Mauritania, Indonesia, Kyrgyzstan, Georgia, Turkmenistan, Benin, Sri Lanka, Ecuador, Afghanistan, Algeria, Iraq, Zimbabwe, Oman, Venezuela, Tajikistan, India, Kazakhstan, Armenia, Nicaragua, Cuba, Sudan, Jordan, Tunisia and Palestine attended the conference.
30 country conference hosted by Iran and organized by Pakistan, basically concluded that Pakistan and Iran both support Syria, which implies that Russia and China are also behind them.

the NATO crowd has been hosting 'Friends of Syria' conferences - without Syria invited - the last month and talking more or less in the open about overthrow and post-Assad Syria. This recent conference from Iran and Pakistan is an important counter, although it's also something of a diplomatic escalation.

I'm looking over the thread, I don't see where you got these 2 ideas from.

'Why are we backing them?' You mean, I presume (I don't know) the West, i.e. USA and the UK?

I am definitely not backing the so called SFA. I am backing Assad. And if you had any perspective on this very preventable and sorry disaster you would know the end will be a whole pile of shit worse than the beginning.

The cost of course will be borne by ordinary people. Perhaps I feel like this because I know some people who live in Damascus. They lived basically a free and decent life and they could worship, as Christians, and were left alone. The convents and churches were left in peace. That's all going to change if Assad is toppled.

To the poster who called Assad a genocidal maniac. Clearly you have no idea what running an Arabic country actually entails. You need to be a hard bastard to keep such a country together and stop its warring factions from destroying each other. Just like Saddam Hussein - god, getting rid of him sure helped the average Iraqi didn't it?

The Western involvement is just another power grab - the Russian port, squaring-up to Iran, covering Israel's ass from the other side. It makes me want to puke. Total fuck-up from top to bottom, led all the way by warring Americans and of course joined-in by the UK. Fuck off the lot of them.

A Syrian activist said those guys thrown off the post office roof weren't postal workers, they were Asad regime snipers.
...
“There were snipers on the roof of the post office,” he said. “Finally, the rebels managed to storm the post office and threw explosive devices, and the five snipers were killed. Then the rebels threw the bodies from the roof.”

you've been drinking the kool-aid if you believe every propaganda article reuters chokes out, all quoting "activists" in the first 10 words. start reading them... they come out every day by the same 2-3 journalists & they are the biggest pieces of unbelievable yellow journalism you'll find.

does it ever strike anyone as odd that these rebels happen to be living in the cities where "genocides" and family massacres are going down? disclaimer: nobody's being used as human shields in this scenario, see reuters latest research for proof. LOL.
