I started up a campaign at a network and i set a daily spending limit of a certain amount. The ad was created on the weekend and i didn't expect it to get approved till monday but it was approved on saturday and the campaign had been running and basically went 5x over the spending limit cap.

I emailed support and they said there system didn't update in time before the cap could stop it.

Should I be expected to pay this 5x over charge of my daily cap because there system couldn't update fast enough to stop exceeded spending?

If they bill off their IO get ready to grab your ankles.

You know what ad server the network is using? And you may as well out them, if you set the cap before the campaign was active then they have some shit technology that should be avoided (but if you set the cap after it started serving then that's on you.)

Here's the answer you're looking for:

If it happened to me, I'd honestly try my hardest not to pay it, especially if i lost money (which it sounds like you did).

Let me take a quick guess. This happened with DirectCPV?

I take the wild guess because it happened to me with one campaign. I was targeting facebook (I know wild and stupid) set a cap limit of $100/day for the offer and in less than an hour the CAP was reached and overspent twice as much (total $300). I emailed them and they didn't even reply until 3 days later saying their system didn't stop the traffic fast enough since it takes to update 2-3 hours and since my target was facebook they couldnt stop it on time....

Why the fuck do you have a cap limit if it doesn't work or doesn't work fast enough? LAME.

For what it is worth,

This was resolved in his favor... the answer is no if your account spends over your daily cap AND your monthly cap you should not be liable for the traffic, just as if you did a media buy and signed an IO with a daily cap.
