So you're washing your car on your driveway? That's illegal, bros.

Don't fight the state, love the state. If they want you to wash your car in a designated carwash, why fight it? Small price to pay to be free.

This cop is actually trying to look out for this dude and he's being a dick. Did you hear him say, "I didn't want to come down here and break your balls?" The cop sounds reasonable to me. The real problem is the uppity ass town this guy lives in.

dumb...he acts like you can take off your clothes and start fucking in the driveway because it's a "private place."

USA GOV.. your work here is done.

Judging by some of the replies i really feel sorry for you guys who can think coherently.

I can think coherently. This cop is practically the Ron Swanson of cops. He knows it's a stupid law. He's telling the guys how to avoid wasting their time with this shit. They seem to think they're fucking bad asses. They're not. I fully support them challenging this in court and getting this stupid ass ordinance over turned. In fact, if they have the time and money to fight this, I'd highly support them doing so. What I suspect is that they're a bunch of morons running a garage out of their driveway in order to flip cars. It doesn't inherently bother me, but I tend to choose my battles based on more capitalistic motives.

The real problem is the morons willing to enforce the stupid laws that these uppity ass towns come up with
in order to get a paycheck.

He knows it's a stupid law.
But yet he blindly follows orders and enforces stupid laws he knows is stupid...
Shit like that does not make me feel sorry for pigs one bit.

I guess I'd like to know if these individuals who are in opposition to this law/ordinance moved into the neighborhood knowing about it. What options does the cop have but to enforce the law whether he deems it stupid or not? The only option is to not become a cop at all. He wasn't an asshole. I bet these people freak out if the trash truck misses their trash a weekend. I bet they freak out if the roads aren't plowed in the neighborhood. Going back to my original point, it's hard to have an opinion on on this without understanding the full situation.

I don't get this, lol.

Cop wasn't a dick, he gave the impression this was stupid to begin with.

Also while not "illegal", if you use chemicals in some states to wash your car and they go in the yard/sewer you can get shit for that.. Environmental laws.

I'd like to imagine by looking at the POS car in the driveway they are not the best neighbors, lol.

Dreamscape:

The executive branch is there to blindly enforce the laws. They don't decide, which is the point. Don't like it? Talk to where the real power lies: the judicial branch.

Good call.

I'm not on the up-and-up when it comes to cars... but I see's what appears to be a pressure washer there as well. It might just be some fancy soap dispensing thing. But in my neck of the woods, a pressure washer is a noisy ass machine.

Cop seemed reasonable until young punk holding the camera started mouthing off.

In the immediate view of the situation, which can only be taken as a stupid law being enforced... yeah, FUCK DA SYSTEM.

In the ultimate view, there's obviously a much larger scale issue going down. Neighbors don't just go to war against you for no reason.

If you want to wash your car in a quiet, respectable neighborhood, get a sponge and a bucket.

I'm not going to listen to my neighbors bust off firecrackers all day, play a drumset with the windows open, AND I DAMN SURE AIN'T GONE LISTEN TO NO YOUNG PUNKS RUN NO AUTO-SHOP OUT OF THEIR GARAGE.

*goes back to burning a giant pile of leaves in his backyard*

it's frightening that "I'm just following orders" is still something so prevalent today, especially when that was the excuse many German soldiers used when they were shoving people in ovens. This idea of following orders no matter what, whether it be the military or the police force needs to go. Grow a fucking pair and do what's obviously right; no victim, no crime. Fuck this "then fight to change the laws!" statist pussery.

"I'm just following orders"

I've used that line before. People still use it because it works.

Most of the time when cops use that line it's because they are trying to get the person to relate to them, develop some sympathy and defuse the situation. They really don't give a shit about the issue at hand.

Whenever you hear "I'm just following orders" or "I'm just doing my job", what that really means is "please fuck off, I don't want to deal with the paperwork/bullshit".

Garden City, NY on Long Island - one of the richest towns in the United States. Let's call it what it is - a zoning law against peasant activity.
