How long ago was he convicted? Did he serve time for the conviction? Is he on Parole, or probation now? Was the crime violent (ie kiddy snatching?) Has he approached children on your forum? If you're taking income away from this guy you should ask a few more questions.

There is no legal recourse if you ban him because you can discriminate against anyone, for any reason EXCEPT protected classes (race, religion, age, handicap and a few others) - criminal record is not included. People with convictions get discriminated against all the time - why do you think they ask if you've ever been convicted of a felony on job apps, rental agreements, etc?
That being said, it could have been for fucking his 15 year old girlfriend when he was 18 because they're all treated the same on the registry. If you really want to know, look it up. I'm sure the local newspaper ran a story when he was charged/convicted/sentenced. Just because they don't name the victims if they are underage - they still name the person charged with the crime. Are you new to the Internet?

"Listen pedobear, in light of the fact you have been convicted for crimes possibly relating to kids, I need to warn my members that may deal with you. I am going to send out a mass email to all members as well as make a sticky post in the forum directing everybody to your sex offender registry since it's public info anyway. That way they can decide if they want to deal with your pedo ass or not.
Unless of course you don't want this and would prefer to just leave the forum instead. Let me know which option you prefer as I don't care either way but I need to protect the interests of my members."
Now, I'm no pedobear but I would imagine he would not want his info known to every member of the forum and will opt to leave. If not, then go ahead and warn everybody and let pedoebear stay. They're adults anyway and you can sleep knowing you did what you could to prevent anything happening.

that is the shittiest idea I've ever heard. Think about how much that would damage his reputation in front of his members. "Hey everybody - This guy I allow to be in our community is a convicted perv. So be careful LOL!"

Perhaps update your terms to say something along the lines of:
"You agree that COMPANY, in its sole discretion, may terminate your account and remove and discard any content within the Service, for any reason, including and without limitation, the lack of use or if COMPANY believes that you have violated or acted inconsistently with the letter or spirit of the TOS. You agree that COMPANY shall not be liable to you or to any third party for any modification, suspension, termination or discontinuance of the Service.
