my 300$ computer chair i bought a few years ago is starting to suck ass. it hurts whenever i sit in it for longer than an hour and i think it might be a contributing factor to my can't stay fucking focused work mentality.

So fuck computer chairs im done with them for now. I just want something i can sit in and work in for hours if i have too without having to get up because its uncomfortable.

I use to a comfy big non reclining chair awhile back as a temporary chair until i found a good one and I loved it. Does anyone have any suggestions for a comfy ass computer chair?

i was actually thinking about picking soemthing like this up and using it for a computer chair since i play games on the computer every once and awhile.

Ultimate Game Chair: The Ultimate Video Game Chair

the only problem is i dont know how these would feel after a couple hours of sitting in them. They don't look that comfortable for long periods but then again they were built for gamers.

If i can't find anything im thinking of just building a base frame for a chair and then put a shit load of memory foam in it. LOL sounds comfortable enough.

Adjustable Height Desk - GeekDesk -

A friend of mine just got one of these and he swears by it. He got a small mat that goes where he stands and works all day and says that it has upped his productivity a lot. I may try it.

I may do the same. Other than that, Herman Miller Aerons are good. I haven't tried the new(ish) Embody chairs yet, though.

yeah i dunno about that adjustable height desk. interesting but for 800$ i think id rather buy a herman miller chair.

I second the embody, go find a dealer and sit in a bunch of their chairs. You will really notice a difference. I went in for aeron but didn't like it at all, sat in one of their embodies and I was sold.

Time to plug my piece of shit.

Swiss Ball Seating.

I've been using a Swiss Ball instead of a desk chair for a little over a year now, and I'll never go back. It sucks sitting in the regular desk chairs in my college classrooms.

Seriously, you can get a Swiss ball for 10% of the price of a good desk chair, and it will do so much more good for you than anything else you can get, including the Embody.

1. Forces Spine Alignment. Since a Swiss ball isn't a stable surface, the body attempts to balance itself. The perfect spine posture necessary to remain steady is the easiest to balance with. Your body automatically tries to align itself with the proper, perfect spinal posture. This improves spinal health, and decreases the possibility of back pain.

2. Enhances Movement. A Swiss ball causes the user to change positions constantly to keep balance. If you were to turn 30 degrees to face a computer monitor, the body will take a new position. This reduces damage caused by prolonged seating in the same position.

3. Fitness is Always an Option. A great reason to switch to a Swiss ball instead of a desk chair is the ease of use to do exercises without having to get up. Whenever you have a wait for something, productivity and healthiness can be increased by scooting back a foot and doing some crunches. Ease of accessibility will lead to more frequent workouts.

4. Balance Improvements. Sitting on an unstable surface hours a day will improve the sense of balance, as well as fast twitch muscle fibers. The result is a better overall balance that can be observed outside of the office.

5. Welcome the Six Pack. The body uses the core, or abdominal, muscles primarily to assist in compensating for balance changes. Therefore, you are essentially getting a low-key ab workout at all times. It might not sound like a lot, or even feel like anything at all, but consider how long you'll be seated. These endless hours can build up, and essentially result in a stronger, leaner core.

6. Improves Circulation. Using a Swiss ball will assist the bloodflow to all parts of the body throughout the day. A desk chair reduces circulation to parts of the body after prolonged use.

7. A More Energetic Feeling. It has been proven that staying in one position will make you more tired. Moving around, on the other hand, gives you more energy. With a Swiss ball as a chair, you'll feel much more energetic after work is finished.

8. Burn up to 500 Calories Daily. More movement during the day equals more calories burnt. Burning 500 calories per day is equal to losing a pound of fat every week. It will help you stay fit and lose weight.

9. Extremely Cheap. Specialized, high-impact Swiss balls designed for sitting use can range $15 to $70. These figures are a fraction of what an ergonomic desk chair, which can range from $150 to $800 or more.

Just my thoughts. And yes, the site is under construction. Hence the crappy quality.

herman miller embody is about $2400 here with a 12 week wait... but yes it did feel amazing to sit in. worth $2400? no

That looks really interesting. I am about to change my office around and I am sick of sitting all day. But, I am also 6'4" and I can see getting the desk and it being to small. After working for years in restaurants at tables too low prepping food and having back problems from it the last think I want is a computer desk that screws me up.
