Seatbelts Should Be Mandatory

Speed kills.
Speed doesn't kill, suddenly stopping does. woopwoopwoop

But anywaaaay, the video has nothing to do with seat belts, this has to do with that fucking idiot SUV driver not having the skill to operate that vehicle in those conditions and should not have been a licensed driver.

I'm for mandatory testing when renewing your license, or after a certain age. If you've been guilty of causing an accident, you must be retested. No fucking questions about it, you can't just allow anyone to get licensed or operate any sort of vehicle. Motorcyclists have to be tested to get licensed based on engine size. Apart from driving a huge truck (CDL) or a crazy sports car there is no graduated testing for cars, and that is JUST so the fools can drive to work every day.

OH but of COURSE we can't do that, because it's discriminatory to people who can't afford to test again. Of COURSE we can't discriminate against the elderly, or the young, because we're allll equaaaal.....This retardation of thinking we're all equal is getting us killed (killed randomly because of idiots, so I guess that is actually equality???)

I've always been in favor of mandatory seat belts, because in a crash you become a missile that can kill someone else in the car. FUCK mandatory helmets for motorcyclists though, although the states that don't require helmets do usually require some sort of eye protection.

Why the hell was that being filmed?

Yeah, this is one of those times when no invention known to mankind save the ejector seat could have helped that driver.
Probably a camera they'd installed in their car for if they have an accident, so they can prove liability/avoid hit and runs.

Also, driving lessons?

Somehow decrease the amount of people with automatic gearboxes?

I've noticed that whenever I've been in a car with someone with an automatic transmission, they always seem to be a bad driver. I think it's cause automatic transmission trains you into not needing to worry about things as much, so you can spend more time looking out the window/eating/talking/whatever.

Top of your class eh
you had me at eh. ginger ale went out my nose.

Dude, I totally feel you. I feel you, totally, dude.

As most Americans drive an automatic, I've been noticing something about their driving and how it models their life.

They have no neutral.

They're either stopped, or if they aren't stopped, they're moving immediately. There's no time to think, no time to observe. Progressive/Conservative(oh things just got political)

Driving is such a mess when the opposite of being stopped is GO instead of just being in a state where you can go forward or back, depending on your choosing.

Watch someone in the median try to merge in busy traffic. Stopped, check traffic, moving a bit, didn't want to move that much, stop hastily, check again, foot off brake, can't go yet and didn't want to go yet but was just wanting to at least be "in motion," stop abruptly, check once more, get frustrated, people behind them going through the same thing and getting upset and honking, fed up, FLOOR IT AND MERGE.

Dude, if they just had a god damn clutch, they'd still be stopped, but ready to go without having to check and freak out when they're moving unintentionally.

This is why people freak out driving and get nervous: They have no control of their own vehicle! and it totally mirrors to their lives.

Although, in regards to being more attentive with a manual, hell no I never was. Still texted, played with the music on either my ipod or xm(lol xm), had a milkshake, engine braking like a fucking asshole on a highway with people expecting to see lights to show some sign of slowing down. Nope, too busy with my milkshake. In an automatic, I'm fucking terrified of driving a boat that sometimes WILL NOT SLOW DOWN but instead WILL ACCELERATE if your foot is OFF THE GAS. what is this i don't even

Seatbelts are mandatory in California. And that legislation was originally created by high school students. True story.

isn't it a national law now? I know its enforced in Cali but i thought it was national at this point

ps RIP suv dude, man what a crazy way to die.

See, now that's how I want to die. None of this lying in a hospital bed for months in agonizing pain due to cancer, or whatever.

Just one fell swoop, and boom, you're wiped out from existence. You don't even have time to think about the fact you're dieing. Perfect!

Please do everyone here a favor, don't post again.

Seatbelt and divided highway saved my ass, would be dead without these tow. Mandatory seatbelts? No thanks, if you want to risk your own life then fine, but then there should be a cap on medical expenses paid by the other party.

Once you hit the drift it's like sailing a boat, never cut the wheels!

Although I imagine the driver was fiddling with his radio or phone and was unprepared for being on a boat.
