I like Gangstarr he's a classic artist, I just don't like that song.

LOL, that little statement shows that you actually don't know shit about Gangstarr. Don't front. I suppose you love Mobb Deep too because he brings killer rhymes?

PS. I don't mind Ryan Leslie, he's a talented dude.

It's not a big deal dude... Whatevs. I meant what I said and Mobb Deep is a duo not a "he", lulz...

that is because you don't like real rap.
As long as the string of words that come out of your mouth rhyme, it's rap. The problem with underground hip hop are the elitists who believe only their "classics" are "real".

No, I just think that rap&hip-hop is more than music. It's culture. People listening to contemporary rap music fail to see that. It's not their fault, just the industry is making only songs about pussy, money, cars and drugs, whereas "old school" had that, but it also had a lot of songs that make you think about it for a second, food for thought, a form of protest from the young generation.

There are a lot of artists like NAS, Guru, AZ, RZA, Big L, Method man, ODB(and really a ton more, I can't really name even 1/10th of them in this post) which, for me, rank among the most brilliant people of our time like scientists, engineers, writers, etc. I cannot say that for now-a-days rap performers. I will not remember some shitty song birdman/lil wayne/drake produced in 10 years, whereas people PREFER to listen to songs older than 10 years now. That is because they are timeless. They are about things that are ever green. A lot can be learned from these lyrics.

A lot of artists could sell shitton of records and rap about pussy and drugs and still make meaningful songs - dre, 2pac, biggie, the whole wu-tang.

Rap music, nowadays, is just pop music. Pushing fake shitty songs with helluva marketing. I thought that people, in this of all forums wouldn't need that kind of explanation.

That is why I chose that song to post. You should hear more careful its lyrics:

And no matter what we say our religion is
whether it's Islam, Christianity
Juddaism, Buddha-ism, Old School-ism or New School-ism
If we're not schooling the youth with wisdom
then the sins of the father will visit the children
And that's not keepin it real...
that's keepin it WRONG

that is all rap is about. You should listen more carefuly what these people say, and pay less attention to what lil wayne says.

@ momchil9

I'm with you all the way. I hate most new artists today rap or otherwise, that's one of the reasons I like Ryan Leslie, the dude is a genius, he plays pretty much any instrument you can name, he's not really a rapper, he's a singer, songwriter, producer, composer, everything else and he happens to rap when he feels like it.

Dude went to Harvard at 15 years old and graduated at 19, makes almost 100K per beat that other artists buys, dude is a monster with it.

I hate the Lil Waynes in rap, they have the talent but don't push themselves because the current music listening public primarily WANTS pop crap.

So was Gangstarr (Guru and Premier). I think that was his point.
Oh, LOL.

No I wasn't big into Gangstarr, I liked some of their stuff very casually. I was never trying to act like I was a big fan in the first place. I wasn't real familiar though.... And still don't like that song that was posted. That was the only point I was trying to get across, I wasn't feeling that song.
