Recommendations for Dedicated Servers?



I'm in IM business over 12 years and have tried many hosting companies.
hostforweb.com is company that I use for dedi server.
I must say that they have the best support from all companies I have tried.
And you know that support is most important. All companies have good hardware and network, but customer care is what is missing with some.
 
I'm also looking for a dedi. OP, i saw you have experience with hetzner. They have 24gb ram for like 80 bucks. Is this real life?

Also, is it easy to run your own server? I just want to host wp sites but have no expwrience with server hosting. Should I get a managed one?

With Hetzner it's real. I don't know what their managed hosting entails because we were unmanaged.

Here's the issue with Hetzner: Their hardware can be somewhat substandard, even if it's powerful as all hell. I think they may be using refurbished hardware. We work our servers hard and were forever having things break. Hard drives, power supplies, RAM, cables, you name it.
We still have a server or two there, but use it for "less than essential" things where 1-2 hours of downtime doesn't matter.
 
Stumbled upon DigitalOcean the other day. They're not dedicated, but a cloud solution of sorts. I've been most impressed.

Cheap as fuck and unmanaged, but with great tutorials on setting up and securing everything. I've kind of fallen in love with the company and the simplicity of it all.

Softlayer-- been using them for about 10 years now. (back when they were the planet)


Ask for a discount in chat and they always hook you up.
